12 Days of Christmas Deck coming soon on KS

Hiya

My name is Jason, and I have recently designed a deck of Christmas themed playing card.
It's based on the "12 Days of Christmas" song, where each of the JQK represents one day of Christmas.

The song:
On the first day of Christmas my true love gave to me,
A partridge in a pear tree.
On the second day of Christmas my true love gave to me,
Two turtle doves and a partridge in a pear tree.......


So since it is very close to Christmas, and I have just finished the deck design I am thinking to make this a 12 days campaign. (Making it more relevant to the song I suppose. )

I am hoping to print these with either Cartamundi and ship with Gambler Warehouse.

Thanks for appreciating the design and concept behind it
So I am thinking of having gold-gilded sides and gold metallic ink printing.
This is going to be rather expensive indeed so I am not sure how this will play out, but ultimately I much rather "go big or go home" with this.
If this doesn't get funded at the end, I will just print myself a few decks without the ink and gilded sides
At the end of the day, I mostly designed this deck because I thought it's a good Xmas theme card that I haven't seen people do it, and more importantly I can dish out some unique Xmas gifts (So yes, mostly becuase I want it myself ... )

I am not involved with Natalia Silva at all. I don't even know what she did (Did she not ship out the decks at the end?)
And at the same time its very difficult for me to proof otherwise. Since it is the internet, I also do not think you should take my word for it either.

I will say this though, and I will keep it 100 with you guys.

I am actually some what hesitant to launch this on KS. Here are my thoughts:

Issues:
1)
Since we are really close to Christmas now. Even with a 12 days campaign (29Oct - 9Nov) There isn't much time left for production.
Because my whole thinking process was to make this an unique Xmas gift. So it can be doubled as Xmas cards & gift.
If it cannot arrive before Xmas, I don't know how people will feel about it.
(I am curious if people will mind the deck coming after Xmas?)

2)
As mentioned above, to actually make the perfect version, gold-gilded side and metallic ink is a must for me. This means the KS goal will have to be around US$ 7,500 to make sense. (This will include express shipping from Beligum to the US warehouse) With a 12 days campaign I am somewhat sceptical.


Current Workround:

1a)
To deal with the time issue, one way to do it would be to introduce an express delivery pledge option. This means one can add extra dollars and the decks will be dlivered by DHL or something similar. Given if we can:
9Nov - 21Nov (21Days - if we can do a rush order)
then there is still 1 month for shipping.

1b)
I am currently testing the water of how much interest there is, but my intend is so send a sample deck I have already color calibrated to Cartarmundi. This way they can go straight to production once the KS goal is meet.


again, I ultimately would love to have these deck with gold gilded sides and gold ink (hence I need a larger order to make it happen)
But if it cannot happen at the end, I tried to share this design with you guys.
(And I willl be printing some plain CMYK version for myself )

The pictures seem fine once you click on them.

I'm probably less interested if they're gilded, I'd much rather that be an optional add-on than the only option. It would probably cost less to only gild a few just for the people who want it, lowering your goal.

Why do you have 'XMAS' and not 'CHRISTMAS' on cards? I don't think the back needs 'DECKIDEA' either IMO. Great idea otherwise.

I didn't even notice since it was so small, but text on back designs should be avoided at all costs. No need for the name of the deck on the faces either, it adds nothing to the design aesthetic.

The more I look at the design the more I realise that there are just too many concerns I have with it that I won't consider backing or buying. Gl with the project though!

But printed with MPC not Cartamundi, with no change in goal, and high prices for MPC printed decks (not even their new stock) particularly for the single pledge levels. No gilding either, if anyone was interested in that. Design still looks great, but no thanks.

Hiya,

I finally decided to put it on the Kickstrater.
What will happen is, I will have this current 2019 version (MPC), which is more of a version I prefer.
Then have another one in 2020 (Cartamundi) which will have gilding and foil and integration with comments from others.

The high price of the single pledge level is actually becuase I am using their M31 Linen Finsih, which is very smooth and great for fanning.
If you ever experinced a stiff MPC playing card, that's most likley because those were printed with Superior Smooth Finsih, which is an inferior finish.
