Looking for recommendations for custom tucks

Unread post by RelativityCards »

Seeing the limits that USPCC has in place (embossing only on one side of the tuck!) I'm looking for other options.

Is there a consensus around who makes the best custom tuck cases? The best value? I'm looking in the 125-250 quantity range and considering gilding services, too. Letterpress, embossing, foil, whatever.

I honestly have no idea where to start looking. All my googling just turns up MPC, which... no.

Not sure on pricing and quantity but clove st press and oath playing cards, lotrek, come to mind. I know they make some sweet tucks.

I hope some other designers that frequent here with awesome tucks can give you a better idea.

Gamblers Warehouse do nice tucks as well! My Conquerors Victoria, Order Electus, Odissea Series for example.
Reasonable prices (not cheap) but high quality and fast turnaround - I am very happy with them.
Their minium number should be 500.

:-)

I was hoping Gio would chime in. He has some of the best tucks in the game but I didn't want to nominate him and make him feel obligated to answer.

Much appreciated! I'm exploring options with them and it's nice to hear a solid vote for their quality! :D

It's terrifying how much it multiplies the cost of a deck, though. Like triple-to-quintuple

Clove St Press in California are a name that should be dropped as well, imo. Don't ask me for prices. They worked with Kingswildproject and Art of Play. So they know a thing or two about tuck boxes.
You want to reclaim your mind and get it out of the hands of the cultural engineers who want to turn you into a half-baked moron consuming all this trash that’s being manufactured out of the bones of a dying world.

I also used Clove St - very similar to GW in terms of price and quality IMHO, but I prefer GW for logistic reasons. However, Clove St is absolutely fantastic for Letterpress tuckboxes. They did my Eva and it's awsome. They also did my Lunatica Phoenix/Chimera tucks, that are very cool as well.

Out of curiousity; does Gambler's really do all that stuff themself or do they simply outsource these kind of things? I always thought Gambler's is just an online retailer and a fullfillment center.

I reached out to them over the weekend after STLBluesNut mentioned it. Hoping to hear back this week, scrambled though it is :D

The sales agent I've been working with at GA since April said that they produce them in house, at least as far as foiling and embossing goes. They also do the assembly. Their Paypal account says Arlington Printing Playing Card Company, and it looks like at some point APPCC bought a company called Liberty Playing Cards. So yeah, looks like they are equipt for it :)
