Light of Apollo by Hansonchienproductions

Unread post by Harvonsgard »

Apropos Hanson Chien Productions...

Fully marked magician's deck, with what I would call, a nice back design and definetly a great tuck box. Would have been nice if the back design would feature gold details as well, like the tuck box.
Standard courts, custom AoS and non-identical custom jokers, plus two gaff cards. A little bit on the steeper side though with $20. To justify the price they have included 12 card tricks tutorial(s).

LOVE the back design on the tuck. Really don't know why it's monochrome on the cards? Would have looked so much better with metallic gold ink. Either way, $20? NO.

Also would have been a lot better with custom courts that fit the epicness of the tuck and back.... such a wasted opportunity.

Agreed. Unfortunately, the old excuse, magician needs standard courts...
Hopefully more magicians follow the example of TSC and part with the century old standard courts.

The Theory11-effect is strong here.

Almost. If T11 were selling these they would be $9.95.

Had the same thought when I saw these on insta some time ago. That tuck is amazing! Oh... the rest of the deck [emoji17]. Definitely not at that price point.

Light of Apollo

Just came across this on the Hanson Chien site. It's by a magician Sunny Chen and has a nice foiled and embossed tuck at the very least. It also has a marking system. Printed by HCPC on a vintage stock and legendary finish. Price is perhaps a tad steep for what it is but at least the shipping is reasonable.

Yeah, at $10 this would be an easy yes. Sadly, there are other decks I would rather get for that money. Heck, that a pair of this is more than a basic Keymaster Tarot...and more than a mini Keymaster. It's fate is therefore sealed for me.

Still, it is a really cool tuck...

I was talking to a magician regarding marked decks and I think I appreciate the work that goes in to build that marking system now.

I see some parallels with T11 wrt the tuckbox and comparison on price points but which marked deck is available @ T11 for $9.95? I am not sure of any but if there is, please let me know as I like marked decks and will buy one at such a price point.

I hate to even say it, but Madison's Kittens was $10. As a subscription member with Jackson, his standard 20/20 deck was just $12.

Yes, there is! It's the Green Tycoons. So far the only T11 marked deck. I got it and it's a reader back.

As for the best marked deck, IMHO, you gotta get the DMC Elites Green. It's expensive at 2x the price, well hidden, but the markings are so easy to see, even with my poor eyesight. Plus it's also marked for 1-way.

Sh**....How did I miss JR's 20/20 deck?

I wasn't aware that Green Tycoons is marked. Thanks Eric.

LOL, I have that deck. Why? Because A) cats, of course and B) for the lulz. I can tell you this is the only reader back that I would have no problem using with my poker buddies. The reader back is impossible to read. It is so tiny that you need 24/20 eyesight to read it.

Does anyone know if they improved the markings for the Blue Kittens deck?

Nope; sorry. I only have the pink. If they didn't improve it my guess would be that the linen imitation on the Cartamundi cards will make it even harder to read, lol.

Only deck review out there seems to be Victor's and he doesn't mention it.

Agreed with most of the sentiments here, really wish the back mirrored the tuck! Might still be in for a deck or two though.

If anyone is interested this is now available in blue, unfortunately shipping is a bit pricey.
