As a result of a bad decision* some of the decks I've sent to recent buyers have arrived damaged. Obviously I'd like to avoid this in the future and am trying to find boxes and the like that can maximise protection and minimise bulk.
I have seen sellers on eBay offering various sized boxed but am rubbish at figuring out the sizes I need – the average number of decks I send is between 4 and 8.
I'm in the UK and use the Post Office to send my packages, so any advice from fellow countrymen or women would be greatly appreciated, or indeed any tips on how other sellers package their decks.
* I asked my brother to take a bunch of parcels to the Post Office for me and he, in his infinite wisdom, decided to open and repackage two of them to save me postage. One of these contained 24 decks and had been carefully bubble-wrapped and taped securely into a cardboard box; he opened this and put two sets of 12 decks loose in padded envelopes. {facepalm} I could've cried.

We use large letter boxes like this https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Royal-Mail-L ... 2499151413. We also use bubblewrap / bubblewrap bags. Nice tight fit. Hundreds of decks shipped, never had a complaint. I think the size you want for 4-6 decks is C5.
You get lower postage because you only have to pay large letter rates
.
If you want all the sizes we use and how many decks fit, drop me an email buddy.

Re: Packaging decks for posting
Helpful response by justplaycards. I rarely sell anything so I just keep some of the boxes that they arrive in from gamblers warehouse etc just in case. I use a very healthy amount of bubble wrap as I have a giant roll of it at home left over from moving some years ago. When I sold the HOTRS half-brick including the custom carat case it was wrapped in 15 layers! When I have to replace it I'll be looking for something biodegradable or recyclable though.
Something I do, which I'm not sure is ever actually noticed lol, after the decks have been wrapped (so they're not affected) is to apply a single light spray of expensive perfume to the interior lid of the box.

Hi Tim,
We usually use 7 x 5.8 x 2.5 inch boxes (which will fit 4 decks with bubble wrap perfectly) or 9 x 6 x 4 inch boxes for up to 8 decks

Re: Packaging decks for posting
I've sent maybe 1000 parcels with decks here in NZ. None of the decks were damaged. My advice - always bubble wrap a deck inside. Then use any box. Sending decks in envelopes is a joke. Bubble wrapping a box is optional. I do it if I cannot bubble wrap inside or for expensive parcels.

i always reuse boxes i have been sent, i now have a about 3 dustbin bags full...lol..Agree decks should be bubblewrapped and boxed. To limit movement in the box, any spaces are padded out with the polystyrene peanuts that theory 11 use to limit any possible dings....nothing goes to waste !!

Re: Packaging decks for posting
Thank you for all the advice.
I have been bubble-wrapping decks and being careful but I was just looking for a standardised way to do it as I, like others, save the boxes I receive decks in but they often end up being cut up and customised and being a bit bigger than it could be. This is what led to my brother thinking he was helping by saving me postage costs.
