In our last email we announced that the name of our upcoming playing card project on Kickstarter is WAVES

The Kickstarter campaign will launch on May 12th at 12:00 Pacific time. Mark your calendar! The backers who support the project within the first 24 hours of it launching will receive an extremely special bonus which I talk about in the video. [It's the "day one" edition, pictured on the right, which will cost $1.00 and be available for the first 24 hours]

Age old buy-one-get-one-free er… for $1. I can understand it. If he generates enough hype day one the campaign will attract more backers which could in turn help gain more backers. The cost of two standard decks (which aren’t likely to have fancy tucks) is still way below the selling price of one plus $1 likely.

If the $1 deck is linked to other decks, sure. But as it reads now, it isn't. If everyone just goes for the $1 deck the creator might be in trouble .

I would imagine that it’s a one to one deal where you can get one for $1 for every deck you get at normal price, but we’ll see in a few days

Yeah it's as an add-on, and limited to one per person I think. During the Mint 3 campaign people who pledged in the first 24 hours got a free deck, in the video he said this is sort of evolved from that

TUCK CASE​

We have created a classy yet understated prototype design concept for the tuck cases which we will share on the Kickstarter page.
The goal is to produce luxury tuck cases that have all the bells and whistles (premium paper stock, multi color foil stamping, embossing, inner tuck foiling, custom seal, etc.).
We will be announcing stretch goals to unlock these tuck case features during the campaign.
Each version of the Waves deck will have a distinct color to easily distinguish them from each other.

Just wanted to start off by making a clarification about the Day One Edition Waves deck. This is an Add-on item, so in order to claim it you will have to select a reward package first (there is a reward package for just 1 standard deck available). In the video I mentioned that the Day One deck would be limited to just one deck per backer. I've received a lot of feedback asking me to increase it to a 2 deck minimum so that one can be opened and the other remained sealed. It isn't feasible to offer two decks at $1; but what I might do is make the first deck an ealy bird $1 bonus; and those who want to claim a second deck can pay the regular amount (same price as the standard edition Waves). I haven't made a final decision on this yet, but I'll send out an update before the project launches about this.

This is the version we hope to print in large quantities.



Day One Edition (Kickstarter exclusive):



This will only be available for the first 24 hours of the KS campaign. It's an add on will only cost 1$...! We're creating this deck as a way to reward our early backers and in hopes that it will create positive momentum for the project. We are currently deciding if it should be limited to either one or two decks per backer. If we do end up allowing Day One backers to claim two of these decks, then the second deck will cost the same price as the Standard Edition deck.




Limited Edition (Kickstarter Exclusive):



The borderless design amplifies the optical illusion in the deck. These decks will only be available in certain reward packages, but will cost the same amount as the Standard Edition.

Welcome to the forum and thank you for posting from me as well.

I did cut down on geometrical decks a lot but this design hypnotises me. Bordeless is a dream. I'm kinda inclined to back the campaign but printer and the court design will be the make or break point for me.
If you go for the day one deck being availabe for the standard price I'd say why limit it in amount? Let people grab one at $1 and then as many as they want for the standard price on day one imho. Why am I saying this? Because I like the brighter day one more, haha.

Hey y'all. Just wanted to drop in and let you know that I did end up increasing it to a 3 deck limit for the Day One Edition. Here are the full notes from an email we sent out earlier today:

• The Day One Waves deck is only available for the first 24 hours of the Kickstarter campaign, and then it will be gone forever... There will absolutely be no exceptions or extensions on this time constraint. Please see the bottom of this email for the exact launch time in your time zone.

• The massive cherry on top is that it's only going to cost $1. Yes, for real. The only catch, is that this is an add on item, so you will have to select a reward package before you can claim the Day One deck (there is a reward package available for just one standard Waves deck).

• After receiving a lot of feedback, we have decided to allow for a maximum of 3 decks per backer. The first deck is our early bird gift to you for $1, and if you would like to claim one or two more of these decks they will each cost the same amount as the standard Waves deck.

• Because this deck is only available for such a short period of time and is limited to a maximum of only 3 decks per backer; we expect this to be one the most special and collectable decks we ever create.

I am a big fan of 52Kards shop - pretty much started my card collecting there. Not often I buy decks with standard faces now (butterflies the obvious recent exception) which it seems these may be, but I will be checking out the campaign when it launches to see the faces and make my decision…

Haha fair enough. If y'all don't mind me asking, what exactly do you find surprising/unexpected about the court card design? Were you expecting something more custom, or more traditional? Is there anything specific about the courts that bugs you? It's a bit late in the game to make any drastic changes to the design; but it'd be nice for future reference to get a better understanding of what hardcore card collectors like to see from court cards.
