It was actually my attempt at taking the previous off topic to a less cantankerous off topic as segue to our regularly scheduled programming

Curious about who the 32k lotrek dude is and the producer who jacked prices based on eBay inspirations. Is it against forum rules to name and shame as it might help people be aware of such individuals. (Also cause I am a tad bit nosy hehe)

There was no listing, I just got it from reading the content of the thread.

What's worse sometimes is when producers see that and get crossed thinking they missed out and next thing you know, their prices have gone up too. At least one producer after arbitrarily raising their price, talk about how their inspiration was Ebay. Even had courage to say "well my price is still lower than what i see on Ebay".

This one is not an eBay sale but someone on Facebook is selling what they claim is a complete Lotrek/Oath collections for $32,500

I finally managed to pick up a Golden Oath - seller price didn’t qualify for this section, but their decision to put it in a bubble wrap envelope for its trip across an ocean and over a mountain certainly did.
Package was torn and worse for wear, but deck miraculously survived intact.

That’s because of all that foil that was used…
Glad to see it made it to you unharmed but not smart shipping in a bubble envelope. I’m sure it’s happened to many of us at least once. For me twice..
Cheers,

I have one in mind that has the most ridiculous made up pricing system of them all. You can guess or ask someone to guess for you. A patron might remember.

Oh man...The blatant disregard to shipping is concerning. Thank goodness it arrived unharmed, and congratulations on now owning a remarkable deck.
As an aside, I won't be disclosing the name of the 32k Lotrek guy as that feels like doxxing to me and I'd rather not. Private messages are a different matter though.

Someone sent me a Dell Deck in a bubble envelope without bubble wrapping even though I mentioned multiple times to send via Cardboard box. Deck arrived dinged :/

No. No, no no no. NO.
Edit: Want a better idea how much these are worth today? Track the auction at 52+J Sunday April 27: LOT #49 – B. Dondorf’s Four Continents Deck. Same deck, better condition.
Update: 52+J auction sold for $350. Much more in line with reality.

I've seen that same guy buy 4 loose cards for less than $50 total and put them up for $300+ each. Says it's an investment.
I'd love a Four Continents deck, especially with the V1 Kings but alas...

I've only seen V1 for sale twice. I don't remember the first one very well, it was a long time ago. The second was an auction bundled with one or two more common decks. The bundle sold for around $1200 or so, which I'm pretty sure was aimed at getting that V1. I thought it was a steal.
"I've seen that same guy buy 4 loose cards for less than $50 total and put them up for $300+ each."
Yep. He has a lot of that in his ebay shop.

Yeah I wouldnt mind if he wanted top dollar ,but everything he offers for sale is priced so high that it often crosses into the realm of being overpriced

This lenormand deck should be around 30 bucks, but as the auction listing explains, they were owned by a witch…

Chasing Wonder... and Dodging Absurd eBay Listings
Fellow seekers of the extraordinary,
Sometimes the
*real* magic is how some of these sellers manage to keep a straight face while setting their prices!
I thought I’d seen it all until I stumbled on a
well-loved Rider Back being offered at a price that could fund a small art museum. The listing read like it was blessed by cardistry’s ancient sages and sealed in a vault of unicorn tears.
And then there’s the
faded, frayed tuck box described as “minty fresh”... Truly, these sellers are visionaries; seeing value where even the most generous collector might just see... firewood.
At this rate, I’m tempted to list my
Peanuts deck that smells like glue as a
rare artifact of Americana: only $5,000, shipping included (because I’m generous like that).
Keep the gems coming in this thread.. Between the head-shakers and the jaw-droppers, this is my new favorite place to laugh between hunts for actual treasures.
May your bids stay reasonable, and your decks stay priceless.
