Takes two magicians to design a wind-up mechanism... dunno what impresses me less now.

grab a beer(not bud light), friend... let me take the wheel on this one. the problem with theory 11....
just kidding, gandalf.
there are probably a few reasons this forum may seem ''toxic''.
1 there are some of us that post comments that are legitimately ''toxic''.
2 these days, nearly any comment that is some form of criticism is considered ''toxic'' by some. soft ass people in todays society.
3 many of us have been around playing cards for many years and have seen all of the hype, lazy ass designs, sensational marketing, iterations upon iterations of the same deck, fads, gluing gilding and foil onto every turd produced, etc etc. and some of us are not afraid to call any of it out at one point or another.
4 this is a forum, maybe one of the last few places on the internet, that one can actually still speak their mind without getting censored into oblivion by some pimply moderator still trying to get back at their childhood bullys by controlling others.
5 similar to number 3, people here are generally passionate about this hobby and dont let the BS slide from some of these designers, companies or manufacturers. even some of the most beloved designers catch a little heat here if they are lacking a bit on something.
6 some comments are like inside jokes. the comment itself has little context but maybe a history that many would understand if you have been around a while. however, there are some that are just sarcastic and snarky but still have a history that many understand because the topic has been discussed somewhere else, probably many times.
7 concerning some designers or companies, there may be ''hate'' comments because they have either come here and shown their ass at one point or screwed over many in the hobby. daniel madison and bill davis come to mind. natalia silva.
but, i think if you read many comments as what they are, constructive criticism, then youll see much less in the way of ''toxic''.

I completely disagree. Overall this is one of the more positive and friendly forums I've seen. People are honest with their opinions though and that means not everything gets praise.

A bit heavy of a quote for the occasion, but pertinent nonetheless, “Death is the divorce of Yin and Yang.”

I think it was as #6 stated, an inside joke - and I do get it - not a rehash or revisit - granting benefit of doubt is certainly an expense we call all afford to take on.
For those unfamiliar with the phrase (or is this one world wide?):
benefit of doubt: “to believe something good about someone, rather than something bad, when you have the possibilities of doing either” or “to trust someone even though you are not certain about the truth.”

the entire first comment comment was a recall to a previous discussion, a rather lively one for those that were a part or read it. the joke was to feign like i was going to revisit the discussion and then not do it. mentioning gandalf as a prominent moderator and participant in the discussion because he would be glad i did not, saying just joking, i wasnt going to state my grievances with t11 again.
the grab a beer was a foreshadow to a long tale being spun(similar to ''pull up a chair''), again to feign opening an old discussion. the bud light was in reference that we could grab a beer, but not that one. it always gave me a headache anyway so it will not be missed.
it's all not as funny when explained. perhaps it was only funny in my head. either way, amusing to me.

I asked a pretty simple question that hasn't been answered directly, but the fact that you said "not Bud Light" in the first place and then "It always gave me a headache anyway so it will not be missed" leading me to believe that there's another reason you won't drink it other than the headache thing.
But anyway, no politics.

You did. Newb to the forum, long time collector though. I'm not trying to get political, just stating fact based on looking through various past posts, this is what I've learned. STLBluesNut can have his beliefs. This is America after all (and the internet). ....... Personally, I'm more into creative, collaborative and constructive communication vs. the "I don't like this and won't support it" type of comment. Doesn't really do literally anyone any help.
Not saying things always need to be rosey, but wow...thought this would be more of a collaborative community.

Hey, there, PCardFan1985: Glad to see you here at the forum. Yes, sometimes one or two of our regulars can occasionally end up in "I don't like it and won't support it territory," but I think you'll find that on the whole, the community tends toward the creative, collaborative, and constructive communication you are looking for. I hope you'll explore a little bit more here. There are some lively threads about decks and series in-progress, often even including the designer/producer, both in this section and the "Drafting board" section. I hope you'll join in the conversations that you find to be more creative and collaborative!

Cool, thank you Rousselle. Yeah coming from Reddit, I'm familiar with all kinds of folk. I'm just in it for the cards, not the nonsense. Been collecting for 20 years and at some point along the way supported pretty much everyone over the years. Even some from Kickstarter. I don't have time for close-minded folk, so moving on.
This Star Wars Box looks pretty cool. They say no electronics or magnets, so if it's a wind up mechanism like we saw in the Chris Ramsay video, I imagine they designed a bunch of prototypes to end up there. Nowadays electronics would have been the way to go, but I get it, not magical. I like the analog concept though, something about it reminds me of being a kid. Curious to know more about what else is going on in there.

So glad we're getting back on subject! I like the look of the banners, but at this point my budget doesn't allow me to expand to these type of items.
Hopefully T11 will produce more new Star Wars decks. Still hoping we will eventually see a Star Trek deck, and maybe a Superman or Justice League deck?

If we're doing wishlist T11 decks, I want a Linkin Park deck

I'm surprised they haven't done a Guardians of the Galaxy deck, and now that I think about it an Indiana Jones deck would fit well with the new movie coming out this summer

Ya know, I was hoping for a GotG deck since… its the final of the trilogy directed by James Gunn, and all three movies in it are great!! Yet… so sad they rather milk Star Wars one than actually add up another deck to the Marvel Saga deck series

With all the Marvel decks T11 has released, I'm sure a Guardians of the Galaxy deck will makes its way out eventually. it's too good of a trilogy to not do something with it. What was the last original t11 deck released before the licensed decks?

Think it was Monarch Purple and Mandarin. Purple is normal release, Mandarin is a limited time release during Chinese New Year
Those were the last original T11 decks, before they keep doing the licensed decks collaborating with artists and films. But again, licensed or original, all the decks are produced by T11

GotG might be one of those properties that has just the right amount of characters for a custom deck. Chris Pratt, Groot, Batista, Gamora, her sister and the raccoon make 6 and you can have a rogues gallery for the other 6 courts.

Oh I can list them up:
Star Lord - Gamora - Drax - Rocket - Groot - Nebula - Mantis - Yondu - Kraglin - Adam - Howard the Duck - Cosmo - Meredith
Gamora, Nebula, Mantis, and Meredith can easily fits as Queens
The rest are as Jacks and Kings
Jokers can be Cosmo and Baby Groot
Aces can reference to the baddies of the GotG: Ronan, High Evolutionary, Ego, Ayeshaa

Lol I was way off. Not much of a Marvel guy as you can probably tell. Your list makes much more sense, thanks for adding that.
