The only one I know for sure is the secret pearl color decks.... oooops

Hehe it's not really a secret. Like most artist/creator that went to the convention, they always bring special decks or rare limited stuff for the members. I think it is a great incentive to encourage more people to go and i will definitively be there next year in Cleveland. 27 matching sets were sold at the convention of the gilded deck along with a "special pearl" deck (platinum pearl I do believe it was called). So that is the rarest pearl color. Jackson/CARC had and advanced copy of a new Skull and Bones deck (not sure if it's a limited edition or a forthcoming deck) etc etc. I have a pic at least of those decks

I'm confused- I got the pearl set offered on the first day and the black one was "upgraded" to the gilded edition. Is that not the "special pearl"?

Nope The Black Gilded deck is not the pearl deck. The pearl deck is non gilded. In total you have 499 gilded Black deck and 499 Pearl decks of which 6 colors exist

Now I'm even more confused... Sorry to be "that guy" but can someone please explain the breakdown to me of all the decks offered? I know there are 7 decks (maybe?) but I now have no clue what's what.

lol no worries buddy. Like I said there were 1000 decks made ( I hear a rumor that coffee spilled on a set but that might be just lore hehe)
So you have 499 gilded decks with a Black Tuck Box and 499 Pearl decks that technically were coming in 5 different colors which were Amethyst, Emerald, Silver, Anthracite and bronze. Alex created different numbers of each colors all that would amount to 499 decks. To make it even more special he did a special sleeves for the decks he brought to the convention thus creating a 6th pearl color.
in the end its very simple 499 gilded decks and 499 non gilded decks called Pearl. Do I need a power point presentation?
The deal on the first day was that if you bought 2 pearl editions which were cheaper than the gilded deck, Alex would replace one of your pearl deck with a gilded deck

Any way you slice it, these decks are awesome and very limited. I have a set of the five advertised pearl decks and gilded decks. I have no issue with those that went to the convention getting a platinum silver deck and/or a platinum silver sleeve. Part of the collecting thing is being at the right place at the right time. There were other cool stuff there, which gives some of us some incentive to be in Cleveland next year, and thus build more excitement about card collecting, which is part of the purpose of the convention in the first place. Badpete69, great job scoring a platinum pearl deck.
I do have one remaining extra gilded deck I will be offering, but the rest stay in my collection. I have no idea how Alex can top this set, but I can't wait to see it.

I hate to beat this horse, but I think I might be stupid, because even after reading everything numerous times, I still don't have a clear complete picture. Ultimately I'm looking here to make a complete list of all available decks:
1. Black Label - "Midnight Gold" [GILDED]
2. Pearl Label - "Midnight Gold" (arguably the same deck as #1)
3. Pearl Label - "Silver"
4. Pearl Label - "Anthracite"
5. Pearl Label - "Bronze"
6. Pearl Label - "Emerald"
7. Pearl Label - "Amethyst"
8. Pearl Label - "Platinum Pearl" [RARE CON-ONLY] (Can anyone provide a picture of this? It's not on P52 or anywhere I can find, I can't even confirm if the label is the same color as the rest)
- The wooden box that Pierre shows in this thread was a convention-only sale which paired matching numbers (1 to 30) for #1 and #3 on my list.
- Those that bought 2 random "Pearl Labels" on day 1 would get one of them upgraded to #1 on my list.
Is this the complete picture?
If not, I might need that power point presentation.

The platinum Pearl is the one on my picture. Like i said earlier it was sold at the con only and only 27 sets total were made.
EDIT: OK let me add some pics it will be easier
These represent the 6 planned colors of the deck. The Midnight gold is gilded only.. for 499 decks. The other 5 colors are all pearl edition. But Alex thought it would be interesting to have a special 6th color for the pearl only so he made 27 decks with a special Platinum sleeve of which all were sold as sets with a midnight gold gilded deck. See my pic below of just the platinum. If that doesn't work the power point and the movie will come next

Ok, I think I almost have it then, THIS should be a complete list:
1. Pearl Label - "Silver"
2. Pearl Label - "Anthracite"
3. Pearl Label - "Bronze"
4. Pearl Label - "Emerald"
5. Pearl Label - "Amethyst"
6. Pearl Label - "Platinum Pearl" [CON-ONLY, part of the two deck "drawer" set]
7. Black Label - "Midnight Gold" [GILDED]
My first confusion was images like this on the npccd site that looked black with a pearl sleeve, but I guess it's a bronze or anthracite or something like you were saying:
https://i.imgur.com/4IiDp9U.png" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
The other confusion is that "Platinum Pearl" and "Silver" look very similar in photos. I think Sherman's photo just now shows how subtle the difference is.
I picked up
only a drawer set from the Con and I didn't realize that I guess I have one of the Platinum Pearls, I thought that it was a "Silver" that was in the drawer.
Describing the difference I'd say the "Platinum Pearl" is the same color as the sleeve, and the "Silver" is a grayish color.

And the problem with this is that when just a few seek for a FULL set (or a set of five pearls, in my case), then that really limits the availability of pearl decks as a whole when there are only 499 to start with. I think any of the pearl decks are going to be harder to find than the gilded decks (which I do really like as well). Honestly, all of the decks he made for this set are truely exceptional. Thanks for getting a glimpse of the Platinum Pearl deck. I will just have to take that off my wishlist, but glad others have that one to add to an already amazing set.

And before we start this whole discussion again for last year, only 2 decks last year were made. The green one limited to 400 and the pink one limited to 99. No power point needed here

P52 only has 5 of these decks in the DB. It's missing the Platinum Pearl and Black Labels. I can scan the black label in a little later today but since I don't have the Platinum Pearl, someone else will have to do that.

The black label is in the Portfolio52 database. I have it listed under NPCCD 2017 - Midnight Gold.

Here something that most of you (tuck box collectors

) don't know: The black label (gilded) is perfect for cardistry!! Yeah, a gilded deck that you can fan, spread, spring.... here a shot, after I took the cards out of the box and went through all of them just to split them apart:

- Black Label fan
And here the beauty of the gilded edges:
Fantastic work by Alex Chin, I believe the same gilding method was used for the Apothecary White Label, but unfortunately I'm still waiting for mines to arrive (stuck on customs)!!
On other note, Alex mentioned that the most common color is Green (140 produced), and that Bronze and Silver are also about the same number, a bit lower. The rarest are Anthracite, Amethyst and Platinum (about the same number).

Alex released the counts by type eventually, but I can't remember what the count was, or even which was the rarest (well platinum is definitely the rarest).

If I had to guess based on past sales, Amethyst is probably the rarest aside from the 27 platinum. I'm now curious where that count might be hiding because I just looked through his reddit, Instagram, and UC accounts and couldn't find anything.
