Colour seems to be a definite favourite. Both will be available, as I know there are people on r/playingcard that likes the B&W aesthetic.

The inking process for the Queen of Spades is finished!

I kinda find the line width of the sketches more appealing than the thicker linework of the inked drafts.

If it were a typical illustration, I would agree with you. Unfortunately, I don't think thin lines will translate well on paper (Ba-dum-tss) and could potentially not read well. Also, I'm factoring in the added thickness when ink is applied to the card by USPCC.

At the end of the day, I do want the deck to be artistic first, yet practical.

Love the Kings of India Playing Cards and the design.

I think we're going to keep the style we have now. Part of me thinks it fits the deck compared to thinner lines.

The colouring process is done for the Queen of Spades
I need some help regarding the last witch. If you don't know, each witch gets one of the three prophecies incorporated into the design of their court card. So, the Jack of Spades incorporated the second prophecy that no one born from a woman shall harm Macbeth. The one above is the first prophecy that Macbeth will become Thane of Cawdor and King thereafter.

The last one, the Queen of Spades, will get the third prophecy that Macbeth shall never vanquish until Great Birnam Wood to high Dunsinane Hill shall come against him. My illustrator and I are having difficulty thinking of how to incorporate that prophecy into the design. My idea is to wrap the witch around with tree branches and leaves surrounding her. Otherwise, I can't think of any.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

Rather than focus on plot point 7 below, perhaps one of the others is easier to describe on the journey from prophecy to fulfillment

For context, the Spades represent the themes and concepts of the supernatural, witchcraft, darkness, etc. It's only appropriate to have the three court cards be the Three Witches.

I do have an idea of what we can do for the King of Spades, but I'm going to let me brain juice keep brewing

They're dope. I can't post pictures due to having everything packed up for a move currently. But I might post some once it's done next month.

One of my favorite decks. I have few friends from India and I showed them the deck and they loved it too.

The team agreed that the first initial draft above was busy and unbalanced compared to its other court card brethren. So, we made some changes, and that's the result.

The initial sketch for the Jack of Diamonds is complete! Banquo was Macbeth's friend and right-hand man before his death at the hands of the Three Murderers hired by Macbeth himself.

Late to the party, but loving what I see so far. Of course it's early in the process, but I'm wondering if you'll be keeping the plain white background or you plan to put a background design for the courts?

It's improbable that we'll be putting a background design for the courts. Adding it will make the court cards very busy, which I want to avoid.

The initial sketch of the Queen of Diamonds has been completed! Lady Macduff was the wife of Macduff, who tragically was killed alongside her son when the Three Murderers went to her home to find her husband.
