You guys are such conspiracy theorists, geez. My guess, having done things in the past like the Eco clips and Aurum lucite case, is that those wood boxes are a pain in the butt to make and cost a lot to have produced, so he's doing a small run to keep it manageable.

The guy who has done Jackson's boxes in the past is a real craftsman.
I got the Indy box and the Sherlock box and they are exquisite, individual works of art.
I'm surprised that so many are being made.

No, jackson is just greedy. Lmao. You're probably right Paul.

I honestly don't see any conspiracy theories in the above comments, just an analysis of the reasons for Jackson doing what he does. And nobody's said anything bad about it (yet), conspiracy theories usually have some ill-will element to them.

Who's the conspiracy theorist now!? I'm just kidding around. But you're doing the same thing as me- speculating why Jackson is doing this. I would assume (and honestly hope) it's about money. I hope it's about money because I think it would be a good way for him to get paid (as opposed to being a "starving artist") at no expense to the casual collector. Although, since you obviously have more experience with me at dealing with add-ons, I never thought about it that way and I wonder if that's not part of the reason too.
@MF- you're absolutely right. I did make it seem like it works all the time and that's not true at all. No Joe Schmo can just create 50 cards and do something like that. I said that with the assumption that Jackson has a well established reputation in the playing card community like some of the "big boys" that could also pull this off (E, D$D, etc.).

Yeah, but my point was that if he can pull off selling 50 of item X at $100, he might also be able to pull off 100 at $75 (which may or may not be more profitable depending on the production costs). Numbers are completely made up for illustration purposes, of course. And there's never going to be a way to accurately (ie 100%) predict the optimal equation with a given product at a given time in a certain market.
Definitely agree with you on the "him getting paid at no expense to the casual collector" though!

That IS a pretty sweet box, classiest card guard since De'vo's wooden boxes IMO.
Oh, how I wish I had one of those...

I'll be jumping early on this one. Not really pledging GW or CPC on KS at the moment. Nothing against them at all.

Make the rank of the card in the indices narrower and stretch out it out a bit of course the same size is your suit index. That would be a skinny squeezer. Love the big fat suit indicator...

The baseball deck was cancelled?? That was the one I was really looking forward to. What happened?
chach wrote:I'll be the dissenting voice here I guess, not liking it as much as the blue Tally-Hos and definitely not as much as the Blue & Yellow ones that were first teased many many moons ago. When will we ever see those? Or are they just yet another cancelled JR project like the baseball, arrow and military decks? The back just isn't very appetizing to me, not as nice as the previous iteration. If the price is sky high (as it most likely will be) I doubt I'll even get one.

If the prohibition set wasn't coming, I would have jumped in on this. Lovely work but with the prices, I'd have to pass.

I'm in for one. I wanted the gilded deck but I just couldn't bring myself to spend that much. Plus it's not like I'll ever open them so what's the difference? Lol I can't wait to show this deck off in my collection!!

Crapola! Wasn't quick enough to get a gilded.
Bad news: it looks like your pledge to Scarlett Tally Ho Playing Cards By Jackson Robinson wasn’t successful. That’s because there was a limited number of the reward you selected, and they’re all gone. If you didn’t get a confirmation email from us about this pledge, that means the pledge wasn’t successful, and you can ignore any authorization emails you get from our payment processor.

Yea they went fast...
I was looking at the $360 and it's like gone even though the front page is showing 1 left.
Oh well, guess the most value is very quickly taken up.

I'll sell ya my spot. Actually, I've been wondering that for a while now, when will we see people start selling their pledge spots? We've already seen (and I've participated in) people offering up their spot to someone at an agreed upon time, but when will be the first time someone actually makes money off of it. Kinda like those people that stand in line for idiots wanting to buy the newest iphone whenever a newer model comes out. I think we'll see it pretty soon, especially with rarities such as this where only 50 of an item are being made.

I was debating about whether or not to get up at 3am. Glad I did. Didn't get the exact rewards I wanted but glad I was able to get my hands on these. I just love the artwork that has been coming from JR right now. Who is getting an uncut sheet?
