In regards to benefits for UC members, it may be a bit late to do something like a special category for purchasing, but what about post campaign? Like ask people if they're a UC member, what their username is and then paypal or send a few bucks along with deck upon delivery? Or hell, a special UC members sticker even would be cool.

I'm not after free shit either, but agree with Vasta that there should be a UC member benefit in buying a UC deck. Also, if possible, you may want to try to include the Carat cases as an add on. More people may be inclined to purchase them if they're available there rather than coming here to purchase. That whole laziness factor.

That said, she's live and I'm in. Nearly missed it typing here. :ugdance:

ETA regarding Carat cases, I wouldn't mind combining shipping on a few cases along with the prototype I was able to snag, think that's possible?

Mike,

A very minor point but the supporter badges at the bottom of the page are messed up. They all pull up the same image even though all the thumbnails are different. Also, the image works fine on KS but is too big for UC. Just thought I'd let you know.

Managed to get in for an early bird this time. Still not fast enough to get in earlier than #26. I don't know how Pierre does it. Best of luck to all on the campaign.

I've been sorting through my decks this morning and looked down and saw 11:20 and thought I was going to miss out on the EB I wanted for sure. In for a brick, hopefully, a split brick. Good luck.

Since you snagged one of the prototype deck pledge tier, I''m sure we can work out something. The shipping for that is $6, and shipping for up to 24 Carat card cases Priority Mail (domestic / US) is only $12. I can just pop the prototype deck in the Medium Flat Rate shipping box with whatever you want and refund you $6 for the prepaid shipping of the Nouveau prototype deck, or have you send the amount -$6 to the "FriendOfUC@gmail.com" account as a gift, and I won't get hit for the 'discount' fee PayPal charges.

UC member sticker? Carat case will likely be used for the "Riserva Privada" (ultra limited edition of 40-60 decks, name subject to change) as well. I can't really give Carat cases away - they aren't mine, but I can figure out what it will cost by looking at how many members pledge the project, and maybe - we'll see. To be realistic, it has to be limited to backers that pledge $40 or more, I just can't give away a case for every single 1 & 2 deck pledge. The thing with shipping one of those is that it's as much as the cost for the single unit, but if we're already shipping you a deck (or several), it wouldn't matter much - if at all. Actually, that sounds good - I'll try to figure it out with Eddie (Gambler's Warehouse is doing fulfillment).

There should be 4 images on the same link when you click on the thumbnails, it works fine on my laptop, maybe there's an error? :?

A "Nouveau" deck / t? I tend to shy away from t-shirts, because it's hard to get enough people interested to make it worth doing - usually. Let's see how we do as far as number of backers and do a poll or survey to gauge interest, and maybe. I think it would make a great shirt, very colorful and nice if done correctly. Of course "colorful" also means "not inexpensive", because you would be printing a 4, 5 or 6-color shirt (perhaps more). We just did single-color t-shirts for the "Charter Members" here, and those weren't cheap (mostly because I refuse to do cheap or cheaply made shirts in favor of doing best in class fabric and imprint). Let's give things a day or three to firm up as far as demand and then maybe Karin can provide me with a proposed t-shirt graphic, and I''ll figure out the costs first and then go from there? (as in check the backers' needs, etc). Nothing is out of the question, and even if "we" decide not to pursue it, maybe having someone like System6.org (I think it was?) like Lorenzo did for Requiem pattern / design variety of items - might be do-able? We'll see.

Of course, if you have a group of at least 6-8 people at least that want them, let me know... You have to do minimum of 7 with the same design to even make them affordable as well as economically feasible for the shirt printers.

*ADDITIONAL* UC Member bonus for backing the campaign

Posted: Sun Sep 20, 2015 3:19 pm
by Mike Ratledge
* * * UC Member bonus for backing the project at the 4 deck or higher level (minimum $39 Early Bird) tiers * * *
Every UC member that backs the project at the 4 deck or higher amount (the Early Bird tier is only $39) - before shipping is added for overseas delivery - I will add a single Carat Card Case acrylic deck display - one per person.

In addition, Carat Card Cases will be used with the $65 Prototype deck tier, and also likely be used to house the "Riverva Privada" (or whatever eventually used name) ultra limited edition deck series of 40 to 60 personalized, signed and serial numbered decks. Everyone needs to keep their eyes on the updates, because in about a week details on when/where/how much, etc will be published with respect to the Riserva Privada decks.

Several people have asked about adding the cases to the campaign, but we can't combine the cases with the campaign. It just doesn't make sense because of the fact that we won't get the funds from the campaign until around the 5th of November., and I'm sure those of you that want one want it before next February as well. Technically KS won't allow it anyway, because Karin didn't design them. Besides, between KS and Stripe they cut 10% off the top of every transaction, so I would have to increase the prices above what you get here (and for non-members I add another dollar per case).

This is in addition to the previously announced small print of the "3rd Joker" (not yet shown) for all member orders, regardless of amount pledged (except the $1 tier). Again, we understand that people have multiple accounts, but it's limited to one per person. Please be fair about that and let us know if you have an account that isn't obviously yours because of the name or different address. That 3rd Joker print will also be available as an "Art Print" for the $30 price as an add-on, but it isn't available otherwise at all. Karin has not already said anything about it, but it is possible that she might offer something other than the aces/faces/jokers as art prints.

You MUST provide your UC member name in the post-campaign survey in order to get these perks.

Yes congrats on getting funded so quickly! Love the pics of the second deck - let's see how fast we can get that unlocked! Woot! I got in for 4 decks on EB - happy to support. Very generous to offer the free acrylic deck display - unexpected and a nice perk!

Mike Ratledge wrote:Paul, I crafted a really good reply to your concerns about the member perks for the deck, but somehow managed either not to finish it, or lost it when I was changing focus here using two laptops, a phone and my tablet to get a good look at the project from all three perspectives. Basically, we have tried the pre-sale of the decks but it screwed up the overall funding amount / goal, although I'm sure we can figure out something for future projects. It's just too late to zig when I should have zagged for this one. We could do something like that and reduce the funding goal by the amount sold, or figure out something like that.
Mike, I would have 'Thanked' you but I can't cuz this is a sticky. So "Thanks!" I understand that there's probably hastles that come with splitting up a campaign like that and that it's too late to do it now. But I hope this won't be on the back burner next year just like I hoped it wasn't this year...

I mistakenly dropped a bombshell about the Gran Riserva decks and potentially having a UC member edition in addition to the public ones. Rather than cross post it, it's here: http://unitedcardists.com/viewtopic.php ... 618#p93616" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

My mistake, let's keep the discussion here (it's a quick read) by asking questions here.

UC member edition extended until midnight Sunday (tomorrow)

Offer Expires Midnight Tomorrow (Sunday)

Note: this offer was intended to be over when decks were made available to the public, but the offer to get specially designed Gran Riserva decks of Nouveau and / or Bourgogne will be available until midnight Sunday EDT / NYC time unless they sell out.

Right now a total of around 25 UC edition decks have been spoken for, along with around 45 public edition decks have been backed. If you want one, you can still get the rarer of the two available editions until midnight tomorrow (Sunday). After that, no additional UC member decks will be sold.

The public edition will be available until the clock runs down (about ten days at the time I wrote this) or the 50+50 decks sell out.

Mike & Karin,

Maybe one of you can elaborate on this for me and fellow members. After looking at the renderings submitted towards the Gran Reserva decks, I've notice a huge change towards the stock and color difference.

When the first image was release I was very pleased with the green & black. It looked very eye catching! Almost like a velvet type stock.

Now with the new renderings I can't help but notice such a dramatic change towards the stock and colors. I've attached both images so others can compare and make suggestions.

Maybe it's just me, but I'd love to see the Green NOUVEAU reserva deck the way it was (black & green) and the second rendering of the Bourgogne Reserva colors (a silver w/ bourgane color)..

Was there any reason as to why the stock went to a orange color?

What do others think about this...? Input your options towards the tuck colors....

Thanks again,

The hardest thing to render is metallic / shiny surfaces. The contrasting laser cut layer is silver metallic or copper tone metallic. I agree that the orange look is odd.

It was done to give a better idea of what it will actually look like. I agree that the one done between the two makes it look black, it never was, but the early look with interior lighting made it appear black.

I think the final version will be quite nice, but trying to show that using flat colors is nearly impossible.

The original model was an early 1900"s cigarette case shown here.

This is the problem about renders and concepts. That's why I put emphasis on the fact that it was a concept, it's very hard to get the real colours unless you take photos. Also, I'm trying to get the real nouveau feel and for that I decided on colours that would make more sense than black. That's why I chose copper (not orange, that's how it looks because of the render, but it will be copper) on jade and platinum on burgundy. I think that with these colours it will look more classy and art nouveau-like. However, I'd appreciate if others let me know their opinions as well :) Let me know what you think guys

I just posted an update with an extra I added to the Gran Reserva add on, but here's the UC version. The extra consists of a ribbon tied on the deck, with the number and signature on it, and a handmade custom wax seal. The UC members will get another extra, which will be an index Gran Reserva card. I can't show you the design because it's not done yet but I'll update you on it as soon as it is.
