This kickstart set is my first from thirdway industries. I am excited to see what else may be in store as they say more betrayals are still to come.

Then, I got emails about a big sale at their website. I couldn't pass up the Big Scary Box deal as I wanted the Lunatica and Sins sets already!

That price for 11 of these decks. I couldn't resist. Unfortunately, I cannot show all of them off to my son when I get them because I am thinking. Some will be gifts for Christmas.

I don't know how old your son is, but depending upon how you feel about nudity, you may want to check which deck(s) you're planning to give your son first, because occasionally Gio's courts are a little more revealing than court cards tend to be.

That said, I think I'll be posting an essay soon about some of Gio's decks. They really are fun decks to explore.

+1 - Eva and Odissea Mythica are not very good for Childrens (even if I'm sure that he would love them. At least, I would have ...)
I also suggest SINS and Betrayers for mature audience, not only for pretty ladies, but also for the themes.
However, I think it depends, some kids are probably mature enough

I appreciate you guys looking out! I feel like the nudity, if we could call it that, is fairly mild. I think there was a nip or 2 in these decks but mostly just revealing outfits. Especially since it is so stylized, I don't think it is an issue.

He is almost 18 and I believe mature enough for what I have seen of Gio's art.

Nudity is not a problem here in Finland at all because of the strong sauna culture, where everybody is naked, usually men and women at different times, but it isn't that unusual for men and women to go to sauna together. Although nudity is the norm, there is nothing sexual about it, sauna is for relaxation and conversation/peaceful silence. It really is the Finnish past time.

As for the free the nipple topic, I am firmly behind that movement. Not only is it a right a woman should have because of equality but also speaking as a straight man: if a woman wants show her tits, I am not about to complain!

And besides, I like my nipples - not to be vain, but my boobs and nipples are awesome lmao - so why the hell should I, or any woman, be made to feel ashamed of them or any part of our bodies for that matter?? I also like my friends' boobs and nipples, so of course I'd want them to feel just as comfortable in their bodies as anyone else, to do with them whatever they damn well please. This whole policing of other people's bodies is just like so odd to me and I seriously can't comprehend why it's at all an issue whatsoever...

This discussion is already fun as it is, but PipChick bring this to a totally another level

Just to clarifiy why I am so careful: I want to design my decks for everyone - I decided to ship worldwide and I have backers from every place in the world.
This is really one of the best things about designing playing cards: when I prepare the spreadsheets (I do this manually) I am amazed how "far" I'm shipping my decks.
On the other side, I am aware that some cultures or people might be offended about what I do, so I prefer to make people know that in advance. It's a way ro respect everyone's views

Anyways, despite my themes, I have to say that critics and issues were much fewer than I thought - so I suppose that I'm not doing nothing too risky, or maybe I am just lucky.

I remember that a backer was a little shocked about the first nipple I've revealed - that was in Omnia Illumina QoD - that scared me a little...
Also Eva made someone a bit angry hehe

Anyways - I design pretty queen because it's fun - so there will be more uncensored, all-queen decks in future

Vikings are nice - but there are many other decks with that theme. Anyways, I can't exclude a TWI Viking decks full of Valkyries, Bersekers and with a Freya and Frigg Queens.
I am deciding what to do in 2019 - Ideas are welcome (I might send a survey to my newsletter subscribers about that...)

I suppose everything is good in moderation.

I do not understand the puritanical approach to raising kids where parents are trying to shield them from any display of public nudity. In this day and age, when gratuitous nudity is abundant in the cyberspace, any attempt to prevent the kids from observing an odd exposed nipple will undoubtedly fail. Also, I am not sure why looking at some of Gio's more risque cards would be any worse than looking at some of the Dutch and Italian masters paintings that are on display in the museums around the world.

That said, and while I respect German and Austrian national traditions of mixed gender saunas, I am not certain that I would want to attend one with my wife and kids. Just the other day, I had a very difficult time explaining to my 4-year old (who had the misfortune of witnessing a naked bike ride across Central London of about 50 people (not all of whom possess (and that is putting it mildly) the toned physique of a Greek athlete) as to why these men and women feel that it is ok to frolick across the city in their birth suits.

Hi, Gio! Not sure the best way to send you images that show what I mean, so I'll reply here.

First, thanks for throwing this to us all to help vet. That's awesome!

There are only two issues that I notice after looking at both uncuts of the faces.

First, in the Tenebra deck only, the King of Spades: the color of his mustache so closely matches the color of the dagger he is holding, and he is holding it so perfectly aligned to his mustache, that is looks like his mustache is actually a suitcase handle for the blade:

The other thing I notice is from both decks: the middle row of pips for the diamond number cards (except for the 9) are aligned with the same orientation as the pips below them, instead of the pips above them. This wouldn't be noticeable if the pips were a solid color (diamonds, unlike the other three suits, being the same shape whether they are rightside-up or upside-down), but since they are two-colored, their orientation is obvious and, in the case of the diamonds, incorrect. For most of the cards, this still wouldn't matter -- you could just turn them upside-down in your deck if you wanted to, assuming the backs are two-way -- but for the 7oD, it irrevocably breaks convention. None of your other number cards have this feature/issue, so I'm assuming this was a mistake with the Diamonds only, and not intentional.

These are teeny tiny quibbles, and I would be happy with the decks as they are, but tidying up these minor issues would make the deck even more awesomer.

yea, I noticed the shading inconsistency with the diamond pips too - and even though Allan's right that all but the 7's could be turned upside down without a problem, it's probably best to just go back and re-adjust all of them while you're at it for the uncuts.

About the KoS, I am aware that Betrayers shapes sometimes merges since I've used a limited palette of colors and no borders. I think the final effect is good anyways, even if I understand the issue.

For the 7 of Diamonds... I think you guys found an error. I have to confess I've did it that way because... it seemed right that way when I was designing it (I am a bit chaotic when I design).

My only doubt is that is really a minor flaw and it's not esthetically bad - resend the uncut sheets might delay the production, and usually I prefer do that only for relatively big issues.

I am waiting one day to decide what to do
