Confused: How would he know that someone has to pay the shipper
on arrival if it was not him/the recipient
Postal services don't work for free. Vanishing pays them, they just don't pass that on to the customers and take it out of their profits.
Thanks Adam BUT I have said all that - Disenchanted has been talking about a fee he is being asked to pay AND has now expanded on that

This might be a local thing to my country, but whenever an item is shipped as a letter or something through the postal services (e.g. USPS, Royal Standard Mail), our local postal service charges some fee upon delivery. I never know what it's for, I don't bother to ask as I rarely receive them myself.
What is your country?

In this case, it is much easier because the creator confirmed that this deck will only be available through their own retail channels.
But overal, ChatGPT has the answer:

Damn, why did it had to be C++?

Have you tried asking Runit decks if they'll carry the decks? They do/did have the other Butterfly decks including the other color variants of the Workers Ed.

To make it less serious. I hope that you realize that I'm not entirely sure what's better. On one hand, using Murphy's Magic is justified in some cases when there are no other options, especially for new creators, for non-KS products and in various situations. On the other hand, it is very harmful because you cannot build a reliable system when you rely on backers' support and then undermine their trust by making the decks available through wholesalers. It was much better before, but the market has changed. Recent MM sales are out of control. Resellers who can sell below wholesale price (Socal as an example) are out of control. Free shipping options also add some fuel. There are essentially no reasons to support this system by creating new decks and then depending on such unreliable (for a creator) sales channels. But again, everything is more complicated.

It also gets more complicated with local retailers tbh.
When they order bulk expensive items, they incur huge importation taxes and they add that into prices, on top of their profit. And the profit part gets heavier for limited edition items. It was actually well explained to me by the owner when I asked around about their item on reddit

The tax part is an unavoidable pain on their part that makes it more cheaper for me to buy international.
I do buy regular decks from them though
But I'm not interested in the deck on this thread though, i just made examples of expensive shipping fees of very limited decks which I'm sure Runitdecks won't sell cheaply.

I'm pretty sure very few people understood your comment though.

Unfortunately a lot of decks are not available with free shipping in the the aftermarket. Of course there isn't really any such thing as Free shipping, we are really talking about 'shipping included' prices (which are often as good as others pre-shipping prices) for I don't know any supplier that gets their goods shipped for nothing!
Penguin and Vanishing eat the shipping costs and keep the deck prices at normal retail.
Normal retail? The decks already have shipping cost calculated in the price. It is easy to find a webstore that offers 10%-20% off the price which is sometimes below the "normal" retail price and also has free shipping.

Stores that have free shipping with 10%-20% discounts? There is an automatic discount off the retail prices at Penguin and free shipping as you know, although I have never seen them offer discount codes. Triponmagic (subsidiary of Murphys?) regularly offers said range of discount codes and free shipping if the order reaches a certain amount. Many webshops in the U.S.A offer free shipping with a low threshold of purchases. Almost every site I have ordered from has offered me similar discount codes to complete my purchases. Many decks that fail to sell out from the initial sale end up being price reduced once that becomes unsustainable(the pond of fish dries up?) while still maintaining a healthy profit margin. I suggest you wait for sales and find discounts and free shipping because it is not very difficult. This is common knowledge for a seasoned collector as yourself. Some say retail is for suckers. Some don't know any better. I am not an advocate of high priced playing cards even though that is a large part of what allows the system to perpetuate. Happy hunting while not over paying

Hello everybody!
We have just released the second edition of our Marked Bicycle Rider Back Playing Cards. They were produced through a Kickstarter campaign in April 2024 and are now available to everyone!
You can find them here:
https://www.butterflymagicstore.com/sea ... +cards+2nd
They feature an easy-to-read marking system in all four corners and a subtle one-way back and face design.
They come with a written explanation in five languages: English, German, French, Spanish, and Czech.
The decks include two identical black-and-white Bicycle Jokers, a double backer, and a duplicate Queen of Hearts with a Five of Spades reveal.
If you want to use them regularly, we have sets of six and twelve decks available at a discounted price.
Trick decks are also available: factory-made Stripper decks and Svengali and One-Way Force decks made by our team in Prague, Czech Republic.
If you have any questions, let me know in the comments below.
We hope you like the cards!
