I did say "food-related", not "about food" and it is called "the last supper" after all. ;)

But we're getting off topic I think. My bad!

Hi everyone, Happy New Year! I hope you all had a great holiday season :)

To Vasta41, thank you for asking your questions; the resulting discussion was nice to see. As Marcus stated, the hexaptych of the 6 cards is a pastiche of The Last Supper. I too am Catholic, and the cards are meant to celebrate the original Last Supper.

The hexaptych is actually titled "The Critic's Supper," with the central figure being a food critic. The "Judas" figure is the restaurant manager in the Queen of Diamonds card, and he's attempting to bribe the critic for a good review. The Critic's Supper resulted from a lot of things: the meal setting of da Vinci's Last Supper, the food theme of the deck, the layout of the uncut sheet, and last but not least, my desire to tell a story.

Emmanuel- thank you for explaining! That story now makes me understand what's going on and I like it! As I said before, I can't wait for this project to be underway.

Didn't notice the price. Just jumped in and backed it. But yeah, not limited pledge tiers.

That does include shipping (to US anyhow) and it's worth it IMHO. Emmanuel doesn't mess around with excessive add ons, EBs and other games. It's very direct, but extremely professional. You may not get a deal, added fluff or silly campaign updates, but you will get a solid deck and on time (usually early).

I agree 100% and still backed it. I just figure for $15 at least shipping would have been free to all but not even that's the case :|

I compared the prices to his previous campaign and yeah, the single deck price is more expensive compared to the past two campaigns but the uncut + deck combo is still the same except clipped wings because where it was $40 for an early bird. Since I've always been in the uncut+deck combo, it's all good for me. Besides, the addon price per deck for international customers has been the same across his other decks.

Yeah I decided against it. I loved Clipped Wings and sought after Curator. Once I got Sawdust in my hands, I didnt LOVE it like I Loved the others. And now after looking at the price of the single deck of Delicious, I'm not sure I want this one.

Emmanuel does great work and there is not a single Deck Artist like him, but I think the lack of art on the tuck box and back design COMBINED with the higher price means I'm out on this one.

I would like to see Emmanuel put out a more traditional deck. I think he could bring a lot of phenomenal functional decks to the table. But I'ma hit the sidelines on this deck/series. For now.

I've backed and I love the design, but with a $15 USD + $10 USD for a single deck to Oz, it's going to be hard to justify keeping my pledge, with so many other awesome decks available right now at much better cost.

I know how you feel, im really sitting on the fence on this one, i love the deck, but its definitely on the pricey side, and theres just so much out there right now.

Despite Emmanuel's excellent work, if this is the new price point of his decks this might be the last one I can pledge for. I did it this time but I hope the $15 per deck trend doesn't continue.

I'll agree when compared to other decks he's "over charging" as really with such a basic tuck you would expect this to be in the $12/13 range for a single shipped to US. Oddly just a year ago it would have been $10/11, but that's another topic. I do think the $50 for signed uncut and deck with shipping to US still isn't terrible, it is getting up there. I have no idea how much time it takes for him to create the paper cut art and obviously he needs to charge what his time is worth and what the market will allow him to. It's no secret I'm a huge fan and will likely get them no matter what, but I am concerned he may start to lose backers and may see a project not fund. Especially with so many other great decks out there. It looks like this one will make it, but I hope he's paying attention and carefully considers pricing on the next deck.

I think it's safe to say Emmanuel's decks will be more valuable in the future. He has proven himself. I wish he would come the the next 52+Joker convention in 2015. He would be a big hit there.

Thank you for the interview, Tom! :D

Russell, I really appreciate your kind words! Lee Asher and I have been talking about the convention, but I'm not sure yet if I'll be available in October. If I can ago, I'll see if I can bring some of the original artwork :)

Emmanuel - Hell, if you're talking to Lee Asher you will come if you're open during those dates in October. Just know there is a whole other world out there about playing cards that I didn't know about until I joined the 52+ Joker Club. Jackson said it best. And part of that other world is transformation decks. I consider you semi-transformation; You have not crossed that line, but I think the club members would really like you. They don't advertise it, but at the convention you have some space to sell your wares and I think you would sell a lot of decks...

My wife and I both love this deck (And we all know how great that is when your wife approves of a deck purchase!); and we are also big fans of Emmanuel Jose's earlier decks too.

I encourage everybody to look at all of the amazingly creative details in this deck, including one of the best uncuts ever!

And if you haven't purchased his earlier decks... Shame on you for not supporting one of the very best deck designers working today!
