Ok, I'm now in. That blue/gold on the black tuck is exquisite. I'm not thrilled about getting pushed into a coin though as I'm not a coin collector. I see how it adds to the overall presentation, but I'm here for the cards.

I don't know if it's just me, but the coin and box feel unnecessary. I suppose I have a stronger reaction when such items are presented as mandatory.
The decks are looking phenomenal. Looking forward to these.
I'll probably get a coin holder and stand and display that separately from the decks itself, with a coinless lid. Sherman's great at stuff like that.
Ultimately, if it's $100 for two decks, a coin, and box and $90 for just the two decks, it gives me no choice but to say yes to it all.

IMO it definitely gives the whole series a more premium feel if they always come in a nice display box

I'm assuming the cases are by Carat Case Creations?

I think I'll come around to it more once we get these sets in our hands and have the CAP series on display. I'm mostly reacting to the industry as a whole trying to box everything up in some way. I get the intention of luxury with these but still prefer choice. It prices many people out unfortunately.
Yeah, Sherman is making these! He already had the template from Botanica, which I'm sure was really helpful. I'd have to look back but he had called it a Carat W2 or something of the sort. Perhaps it was used in other campaigns too?

Maybe it's because I was a numismatic back in the days but those "coins" presented in card projects feel like cheap, gaudy, souvenir quality medallions. The kinda crap only tourists buy.

Indeed CCC is making the cases. Remember they have a series numeration and branding on the back. This one will say “CAP signature series 001”

Also a bit of a coin-geek and pass on most - that sheep token from noir was super, as were a few others - the less detail, the less relief, the shinier, the less I am interested
The Osiris and Anubis coins are tops as well
And don’t let placement on the rack fool you - the front row is my least favorite - I just stuck all the different ones I had that fit in - and thats how it worked out mostly due to height

The box with the coin insert reminds me a bit of the one Randy did way, way back with his Rome campaign. I guess even earlier, Lorenzo did it. I am sure others did as well.

It was fun going back and scrolling through my early Kickstarter campaign list...sigh.

Don't get me started on coins! I have a ton, at one point I considered to start a coins thread but I wasn't happy with how the photos came out. I probably have well over 60 coins from different playing card campaigns. I agree that I don't like shiny coins, they don't present as well. Randy Butterfield has done some great coins, the ones he did for the Ornates are some of my favourites! I tend to prefer hard enamel over soft enamel over metal only, although Lorenzo's coins always manage to blow me away.

This is my favourite box that incorporated a "coin".

We are contemplating whether or not to do a wash on goldsmith coin for final release. We have some internal conflicts: for one the shiny gold matches the gilding and the coin represented on the card backs and deck. The antique finish does make for much more contrast. See a version below in antique copper. We would of course do antique gold. It’s either that or the 24k gold plate. Which for marketing purposes sounds more prestige. Because it is. It’s more expensive. Open to thoughts.

The character of the back of the temptest coin works best for me along with the reverse of the copper coin
Mirror finish might work if it were for the background and the foreground were frosted, perhaps (proof or reverse proof)

Hmmm. Indeed. But I don’t think the factory I use has that capability. I will inquire.

Personally the shiny version is exactly what I don't like to see in a coin. Antique seems much more pleasing to my eye.

The gold plated coin being completely uniform in its finish ironically makes it look a little cheaper than the antique coin. It looks a bit more like an arcade token than a coin. Plus the back of the coin in antique copper looks absolutely stunning.
Mirror finish often doesn’t photograph too well though so the 24k gold may look better in person.

+1 for not all shiny. The proof or reverse proof would be perfect if possible.

I've been told by my manufacturer that the matte/shiny combo is indeed possible although it will require a new mold. I'm awaiting a quote.

Don't have many coins, but the ones I do have, I've always preferred the non-shiny ones. So it'll be the Antique finish for me. It goes well with the box and the theme overall.

I paid for a new mold on the coin that will apply a matte finish to the raised elements.
