After being really excited initially I can’t seem to find that same enthusiasm now. Not sure what it is, the design or just how long this has taken but I’m going to pass on the project.

Personally, I would have stuck to completely different backs for each card and just one version. The backs can be so subjective, so to pick one out of a bunch to represent the whole deck is a risky endeavor. I'm also thinking the variants really dilute the project.

But hey, Dexter is a great guy in the community and I appreciate how he brought so many artists together for this project. I'm in support of the vision itself and imagine the campaign will be very successful when it launches.

Curious why he chose Kingstar, unless Patrick's connections were an incentive.

I'm likely still gonna back this since I loved a number of the cards shown....but wasn't different backs part of the point? I'm curious why they shifted on that. That was part of the draw. My enthusiasm is a bit dulled as well. Not enough to pass though. I also agree that 3 volumes with more in the future is definitely watering this down.

So they were 8 short (1 each for the face cards and Aces, and the spot cards were one number across all suits per artist).

I like that Only For Fun tuck better, I wonder what the OFF deck's back will be - I think the 55th card would make a good back

Why did he choose Kingstar as the printer? It seems like an illogical choice in my opinion.

Why is it illogical? King Star does some fantastic printing.

Okay we don't know anything about their arrangements, but I hope the artists will get some reward out this. Otherwise, Dexter just got his deck design for free and will make a killing out of it.

A killing? Even wonderful producers like Jonathon/Meadowlark and Randy/Midnight worry about breaking even sometimes
The artists would at least have to get a brick or two plus the exposure

He asked the artists to design a card and they did so willingly. I do not think any did it under duress. Why should we care about any sort of compensation?

Because the sales will generate profit off the backs of that work, is I think the point that was being made.

That being said, it might be an arrangement to split profits or just to use the deck for visibility. Hard to know and I’m not sure it matters.

I would assume they knew why the were designing a card for a deck that was going to be sold?

I recall that it was the original idea to have each artist create 1 card, both face and back. But reading from Lorenzo's post about his contribution, he only created the face not the back. He mentioned that it wasn't stated clearly about the back. So it looks like he wasn't the only designer who didn't create a back.

Yep, it is hard to pick a favorite of the three. I am kind of the fence. I guess it will come down to price. I would like to get all three.

Which playing card designers were asked but did not want to partipicate? I notice most of the big names listed on the back of the tuck box renderings, but a few are missing.

I believe both Jackson Robinson and Gio were asked and both declined. Not sure who else.

I think he's mentioned that there's going to be a V2 as there were too many to fit for V1. But I can't find the FB post.
