Does TGW just do kickstarters or is there a patreon? Also do we recon this will launch once the beetlebacks issues are sorted?
The goldsmith deck was supposed to be the first release in a kind of patreon replacement model but it didn't get as many sales as planned and the next one in that series is likely to be a kickstarter instead, so primarily its kickstarters.
Yes Omar has said he has 2 projects waiting on fulfillment, this almost certainly is one of them.
Ah ok thanks!! What’s the other project? Do we know?

It is strange that somebody who is a media person seems to have forgotten that any communication is better than none. The natives are getting restless in the Beetleback KS comments where Omar has said a New Update is coming soon but that was 8 days ago
His reputation is good and everybody knows he fulfills but all his platforms have been so quiet. Apart from KS, I think 3 months ago on here/UC was his most recent communication but there may be others

WJPC shipping Bettlebacks to his home must've been hard to swallow. Where else is he going to get the money to ship them to GW?
I guess there is nothing new to say at the moment. The boxes must still be on his house.

There must be some eager, yet patient backers on that one. I hope the decks are everything people are expecting after all this time. Side note: did anyone pick up some of those blue Successor decks that Vanishing had for 9$? I'm not a big TGW fan but couldn't pass up the chance at that price. I wonder how much they bought them for in order to sell at that price. I am interested in seeing him wrap things up because I want to see what's next.

I'll be blunt, TGW is at the top of my list of producers I don't expect to continue on account of certain other real world complications we have been discussing elsewhere, Omar has always been vocal on difficultly in making a profit as it was,
If it was me I would have either already been to the UPS store or rented a uhaul and gotten the "dining room full of boxes" problem solved if it was the thing keeping me from trying to make more money. He hasn't said much more about it on discord either other than "his plate was full"

Not continue after this project or after the others lined up? You might be right but I imagine he'd want to at least get through thr next few which I'm assuming he paid for the designs.

If I had to flip a coin, after he delivers Beetlebacks.
yes there is sunk cost in at least a few more, I could see parlour 5th coming, since thats also a S17 project and he plans to continue from what hes said so far, there will just have to be adjustments. But Im not sure we are going to see "the grave witness" or any of the other projects that were supposed to be followup to goldsmith.
Do I hope Im wrong? yes Im one of the perhaps few who will pay (mostly) whatever the new costs are for quality cards.

For a while now I have been thinking that Omar is half way out of the building. I have also wondered whether a lot of the decks for auction/sale on SoCal could be his as ever since he did his interview with Henry, Omar has not had anymore ebay auctions.

I really like Kevin Cantrell's art, so if TGW does quit the business I hope there is a way for his works in progress to see production. The Villa Beluno designs were already floating around for a while before they got folded into the CAP series.

Idk if it was Beetle Backs or Successor but he was making comments about uncertainty in the business if his projects didn't have more success. I thought he was doing alright, just about as good as anyone in the business, but that must not have been the case. Why would that be? As a producer, does he just need more output? Has he made bad business decisions? Was it a streak of bad luck? Whatever led to this moment would be irrelevant if he could rise up again and take the bull by the horns while his name is still strong. I'd like to see those other projects come to fruition as I suspect a lot of card collectors would. I may continue to not be a big fan of his projects but I think the majority would reinforce his position and give him his due validation. He did a lot for collectors so to take an early bow now or in the short future would have me scratching my head a bit.

I don't think many appreciate how hard it is to scrape out a return in this niche market. It is hard to think of many that do and they are the ones that pretty much do it all themselves (not splitting profits with many) - Lorenzo, Gio, Lotrek, Daniel Schneider, D&D
Look how successful Jonathon of Meadowlark was but he quickly realized it was a lot of work for little return so once he had scratched the itch to be a producer - he left

That has often been my thinking that producing isn't where the money is unless capable of many projects annually. I agree that it seems the ones that usually do well are the ones who can take most of the work load with less hands to feed, although kwp seems to have a well to do little empire.

We could trace all the trouble back to Cartamundi. If that didn't happen, I bet everything would've been business as usual with TGW. Sure, Goldsmith still kind of flopped, but that's just 1 bad investment.

If we can speak the unspeakable, at this point, I would not be surprised if Omar call it quits and Beetlebacks never gets delivered. Man is roughed hard.

Omar is a good guy, Beetlebacks will be delivered.
If Jannieke of Dutch Card House could go to Berlin to retrieve her decks from the deserted Dealez warehouse - I am sure Omar will find a way to move the Beetles out of his lounge room

Roughly how much do you figure the cost is to ship those items within the country?

At minimum it would probably be $6k for 588 backers on shipping costs alone, if it was domestic. That doesn't factor in bigger pledges that cost more. That's also not factoring the time, effort, and cost of packaging supplies.

I assumed he had a fulfillment deal with GW so how much to ship the lot to them?

I don't know US shipping math, but maybe you can figure an estimate with this image of the boxes.

Only Omar would know that. No clue.
If this is WJPC's mix-up, they should've offered him some sort of reparation if it was solely a mistake on their end. They also gave away some of his Beetlebacks decks without his permission to add salt to the wound.

It is rough. I suppose even with Cartamundi, whom he would have had a relationship with, payment is expected up front. If it was an invoice system, he obviously would not be paying WJPC the full amount.
In Australia there are heaps of freighters competing for your business to transport boxes across the country - I imagine the US is the same and the cost to get them to Gamblers should not be diabolical (BUT annoying)
Or maybe there is a closer Distributor he can use instead of Gamblers, assuming Gamblers have not been paid
Omar would be working it out but my original point was that it would not hurt to let his backers know in an update
This reply to a comment 9 days ago may be worth putting in an Update
New update soon! Please don't worry. My reputation as a creator and company mean more to me than anything. I have the decks. I am waiting on a few items and then I can fulfill them. Please have continued patience. You will all get your cards. I promise.

What's painful is that Goldsmith was shipped to GW without issues. I can't imagine how that kind of a mix-up could've happened.
Omar said:
It’s a communication issue. I should’ve been much more forceful in reminding them. I learned a valuable lesson. You have to cover for their mistakes.
Should've been more forceful in reminding? What kind of business is that, I don't know. Omar must've mistakenly put his home address and he's been reminding them to change it but it never got through.
And besides WJPC earning some social credit, I don't see why they would offer something for this mistake.

If it's their fault and they want to keep good relations to a repeat customer, then I'd imagine they'd operate in good faith if the error was on their end. But I'm being idealistic. If the error was on Omar's end then yes, I wouldn't expect them to do anything about it.

Omar probably hasn't had time to become a valued customer for he was a Cartamundi man. Beetle Back was a well supported KS campaign receiving $100k of pledges ($us or $au, I'm not sure) so you would hope there would be a little wriggle room for a mishap

I mean, it looks like a gilded deck with a reflection of the deck in front of it. Maybe it's one of those "once you see it, you can't unsee it."
