WOW! A new custom deck that kinda looks like an old casino deck!! Wow, how on earth did he came up with that? That is so original idea, I have never seen that before! What a creative genius!

Doc's playing cards was the one behind Lit playing cards. He's part of UC as well under oddsmaker. There is big enough fanbase for casino style cards, as he stated so well here:
As the designer of this deck I must say, this deck is not for everyone and the target audience isn't collectors. The target audience is those who use the cards such as cardists, magicians and gambling demonstrators. The cards have a Wynn look to them but the stock is completely different. For those of us who like the casino look on a premium crushed stock that has been traditionally cut we have very few options available. The alternative is to create a casino deck. These decks are popular among the target audience which shows by the supporters that we have.

Thank you for the support,
And also on UC for casino style cards, based on this remark:
I’m going to send all of you a deck on the house. Believe it or not when posts were made here good or bad... Ok BAD. PLEDGES WENT UP. Two Piece , I will even autograph yours. . Seriously you guys are great even if you aren’t too fond of my deck.
Check out the LIt playing cards thread for fans of that niche.

I don't care for the juice joint cards and I am absolutely physically repulsed by the lit cards, probably from the name more than anything. However, I can give credit where credit is due, sometimes lol. This designer knows what he is going after and knows it will not be popular with everyone and goes after it anyway.

He also states it very well and confidently. I suppose the same could be said for the other brands that I cannot stand but he says it very well and in a way that makes a difference for me. I don't dislike the cards any less but at least he has a sound reason with a bit of logic I can appreciate.

Also, he comes here, participates and stands up in front of all of us, friend or foe.

Eric Lee,

Thank you. I still stand behind what I said.

STLBluesnut,

Thank you aswell.

This deck is what it is. It's a throw back to the 1970's style casino decks that just weren't very artistic. The decks, however, have a following that we hit. Whether we like it or not there are three groups of card enthusiast. Cardists where you can put anything on a deck and if it is hip it sells. The magicians which want a little more than cardists plus good handling. Then you have the true hard core collectors who want something new , innovative and beautiful. Unfortunately, it is extremely hard to hit all three markets. The Juice Joint hits the first two groups. All of my decks have been aimed at the first two groups. Two reasons: 1st I like casino decks 2nd making decks that appeal to the hard core collectors isn't easy. If it were everyone would do it. It took me over a year to find a couple of artists good enough to make a deck that I would feel I could present to you guys ( hardcore collectors). These casino decks simply aren't those decks, if they were I would have been here posting them for feedback like I have with the mandala.

I do have a couple of projects coming up that I believe will be of interest to collectors. One is the mandala which I have posted about here on the drafting board and the other is another casino deck with a different vibe. Who knows if I'm lucky maybe I will win 1 or 2 of you over.

PS if you didn't get your free lit deck dm me. :D

If you give me a brick, sign one of them (I'll even keep it), I'll burn the rest and post it on YouTube.

I might even destroy the other 11 decks in 11 different ways!

Speaking of which - I need to create an official YT channel.

I think many times we forget what looks authentic and appropriate is not always beautiful. I haven't seen a casino deck to date that would be considered beautiful in the sense that
federal 52 is beautiful. Have you? This deck clearly hit it's target audience as evident by it's successful funding in 18 hours.

UUSI was just recently commissioned to do the Junkanoo deck for Baha Mar Casino in the Bahamas, but whether a 1000-deck run unintended for table use could be called a "casino deck" is debatable, I suppose.

Very nice deck. I hate to have missed that, I'll have to check ebay.

Reading this I was unsure on what this comment meant, so I googled IUD (I even added the caveat 'in playing cards' but it made little difference).

Hello,

Just for a reference, the concept of this deck was based on a real casino. This version of the deck is so rare many people never knew they existed. Over the last several years I've only seen 3 of these. The price range varies $300- $1000 opened. I thought it would be a great deck to bring back to life although it isn't the most artistic deck. Hopefully my supporters with appreciate the 1970's authentic feel which we have tried to enhance with the letter pressed tucks. I hope this information is helpful.

I didn’t know this was based on a real casino deck
But thanks for the great background info on that!

Okay, so I admit that I am not a collector of casino and/or casino-style decks (I don't think I even own one that would even slightly resemble the style) and I would not consider myself a part of the target audience this deck was/is intended to appeal to with it's concept/design... HOWEVER, it's pretty cool to see this niche of decks within the hobby really seem to take off lately and I can definitely appreciate what you're doing in using reference and drawing strong inspiration from an actual vintage casino deck which, unlike other modern casino deck look-alikes that miss the mark in capturing an authentic feel/aesthetic in the design, actually make the look of yours feel convincing. Thanks for sharing the 1970's OG - do you happen to have any other info on it? Does anyone around here maybe?? kinda hard to believe it's so rare and is such a mystery... I wonder why? Pretty cool nonetheless :D

btw...
