Last year we debuted the Glider Back playing cards, which quickly sold out. We're happy to unveil V2, which is available now in Standard & Gilded varieties.
Same great back design & marking system, but terrific updates to the courts, tuck, and more!

Hello, I was the one who merged this thread with
the older thread - it's UC convention but I don't think it's a rule per se so I've gone ahead and un-merged this and I'll add more images
Thanks for posting, sorry about the sudden thread change, and let me know if I can help with anything else

Deck isn’t for me, but Penguin is - prices and customer service are the greatest

Thanks Gandalf! We produce a lot of cards, so not every deck will be to each person's tastes. But we'll continue to provide great options and service for everyone!
We have some really cool stuff in the pipeline for the rest of the year - I guarantee there's something for everyone!

I like the V2 courts quite a bit more than the V1 courts. A nice improvement that makes this deck far more usable, IMHO.

Honestly, I don't even remember the V1 courts but they must've been not to my satisfaction because I remember to have quickly dismissed the deck as a potential pick-up. These, while only modified, look quite fun. I'll put them on my "when wallet isn't bleeding anymore"-pile.

The V1 from last year sold out in 2-3 weeks, so don't wait TOO long!

Got these today, my first experience with Ultralux(TM). Very soft, very bendy, spring and dribble very easily. Not the greatest for fanning though. I'd say Cartamundi B9 slimline has a similar softness but handles better.
The back design on these are very nice (brilliant for pirouettes) and the foil on the box is great (tuck is probably the best element, nice clean design, very eye-catching). The modified courts are alright nothing amazing (paper planes on the head is kind of random) but the blue wash on all the picture cards is a bit drab for my taste.

Thanks for the feedback!
I think you'll find that once the cards have a day or so to acclimate to their new environment and you've handled them a little bit, the fanning is just as good as anything else out there. I hesitate to use the term "breaking in" because in my experience the UltraLux decks don't really need heavy breaking in. Just a little bit of handling - a few shuffles & springs. Almost like stretching their legs fresh out of the box after their trip to you.
Of all of the major manufacturer card stocks & finishes, Cartamundi Slimline actually handles the worst for me straight out of the box. Once it's acclimated to my environment it's much better.

Interesting observation with the Cartamundi cards. Maybe it's my hands but when it comes to fans, Cartamundi performs perfect out of the box and then after a couple of days habdling them, they start to clump a tad.

My experience is similar. B9 has been very smooth for fans right out of the box. These Gliders aren't bad -- faro, spring, shuffling all great -- but the finish didn't have the 'gliding' feel some new decks have where they practically fan themselves, but as Kevin says maybe they will improve after a little handling. Although I don't think I've come across any decks that get better at fans with wear so that will be interesting to see.
Overall a very nice deck, love the back design although I won't learn the marking system and will pretend they're just a regular pack of cards..

The thing with card handling is that it's super subjective and sensitive to a lot of factors.
Of course there's the card stock, linen pattern/texture & depth, and coating.
Then there are the environmental factors like temperature & humidity, but also the dryness/wetness/oiliness of peoples' hands, and also technique.
I'm attaching a pic I just shot of a fan with the Glider backs. This deck has been one of my "desk decks" since mid-April, so about 6 weeks of regular shuffling, springing, fanning, etc. No special treatment - I don't even put them back into their tuck box. They just sit out on my desk, and we've been having the typical North Carolina summer heat & humidity lately.
I can definitely tell that they're used and not handling quite as nicely as when they were brand new, but that's to be expected - they are paper after all. But as you can see, they're still delivering a very nice thumb fan.
UltraLux decks are definitely not quite as slippery as other decks straight out of the box. I've referred to this in past posts as "squirt factor". As great as decks from USPCC & Cartamundi are, sometimes I find them almost too slick and slippery - as if they want to squirt out of your hands. With UltraLux, we wanted them to be smooth but not TOO slippery.
So I can totally see where if you're used to that heavy slip, then the first impression of UltraLux can be surprising and take a little adjustment.
Hope that helps!

Looking at it again, I think the only thing missing that would make this perfect is the instructions to build that paper glider either via link or QR code like what KWP does with their some of their decks.
