sorry for the late reply. We are that stupid to invest and print in ourself.
we've been on a wild rollercoaster ride of trial and error. We've tested various finish coatings countless times to find the perfect one. Turns out, our magician team and cardistry team have different preferences when it comes to both the finish coating and paper stock.

So there'll be two edition with different stock & finish ( one of them are special for cardistry, other one for magician & collector)
For more information on the specific stock and finish options, you can check out our website

I will wait to see reviews before I buy any decks. I'm not keen on new printers. But hey, you've gotta start somewhere, right? I just won't be one of the first to try it.

Pretty ambitious project from the print and stock perspective. I like that a lot and wish your project all the best. Unfortunately - while not bad in any form - the design doesn't resonate with me.

curious as to why you would do 2 finishes? since 2018, when i started collecting, i have heard of optimizing finishes for flourishes, fanning, dealing, shuffling, etc. in my mind, this is all the same to optimize slip and prevent clumping. i have never heard of a finish to optimize... "collecting"? if you get a good finish that slips, fans and doesn't clump, wouldn't that be good for all groups? Personally, i collect mainly for the design and art. i do not really care about finish, feel or trying to do the super dank shuffle flip card spinnoramma that mega chad cardist just did on his latest sponsored trick video with the newest hype deck on flipcardshype.com. i generally glaze over when i start reading post about finishes and all of that so maybe there is something i am missing. seems like a waste of effort to make decks with 2 finishes that you have to keep sorted and add to the confusion of purchasing. just make a finish that cardists and magicians dig and i am sure collectors will be just fine. 🤷‍♂️

As someone who utterly despises (exaggoration!) Cartamundi's way too soft B9 stock, I would wish there would be a second option if anyone runs a campaign with them as printer. Seeing that some praise Cartamundi even as the top dog in the pit, there certainly are different tastes. So I see why they'd pick a nerdy approach to that topic. But while selfishly endorsing the endeavour from a consumer perspective, I do agree with STL from a campaign running perspective, that it seems like a waste of energy to cater to such subjective and specific tastes. Cartamundi did offer two different finishes and 99% of cards did choose one. USPCC offers two different options as well and we see that like 99% are printed with air cushion finish as well.

TL;DR: choice is always nice to have but sometimes it's unecessary.

Hot take: a "collector's finish" is just smooth finish :ugthink:

ahhh, so maybe i did miss something lol. when i see finish my brain thinks the varnish not the embossing/texture of the paper stock. i know both can effect the glide and clumpiness i just thought he was talking about the varnish lol.

Totally understandable! I was like you when I was still one of those "USPCC thin-crushed stock" only enjoyers, gotta change my mind tho, when my team tried out and found something else that is actually good to keep up to the standards. We are really nervous yet excited about when these cards will be on y'all hands :)

My aplogies for being clumsy at explaining haha. To be fair we have 2 stocks and 2 finishes. And for this Oppenheimer Project (Yes we released the whole deck idea and design), we are planning to release 2 editions for 2 benefits: customization and versatility. Surely we believe that there will be different preferences for different groups of people. From my personal experience, cardists do really prefer different stocks and finishes vs magicians/ collectors. We honestly don't really mind to provide more to our valued customers... that's why we actually do have 1 more design for this project as well!

It took awhile to see what the joker was supposed to be (ok its late...still).

You have a cohesive theme that is unique.

I do think the brown pips are a little confusing/muted especially since you used the normal black for the corner designs.

To be honest I dont think Im your audience for this deck, but I hope you find one.

The shortest clothesline I've ever seen or one of those double-tie manila envelopes? Either way I don't get it, nor am I partial to it.

Hello! Actually we do have another edition for this deck, the Cardistry Edition, which we will put black pips for the face design. Maybe you will find it interesting when we finally release that too.

What do you want us to say? It’s a beautiful tuck. I would probably suggest foiling or metallic ink for a more luxury feel.

I do like the tuck. I generally like foil but not sure where it would best be used there, you've made a very brown/newspaper shaded deck, it makes sense that the tuck matches.

I will take a look at the cardistry deck. I can see some black pips in one shot and yes that looks better.

A really interesting idea! Considering that we want the texture of our deck looks old and vintage, We decided to only emboss the accordion tuck box at this moment. We'll definitely try different things though ;)

Nicely done tuck box. I'm confused though. The tuck looks to flat to fit a deck and the cut-out 3-D art simultaniously.
