Dualism Microsite

You are free to share these on socials/forums if you want to. Just consider that the project isn't submitted for printing yet and everything can still change.

This is a quick render of the three decks - one full white, one full black and the "dual" deck I've shown in the microsite. What I want to achieve here should be self-explaining, deck names are not decided yet, though. Paper on these will be premium and matte/ textured.

Are the pips copy pasted from Devotion decks?

That black and white is amazing concept and one that I would normally jump on! But while TWI artworks looks to be good art, it's not the kind of art style that I like to see on playing cards.

Here, I'll just patiently wait for some creator to have their own adaptation of black-white gold-foiled deck with more standard-ish luxury courts (weird take, I know) :ugking:

A more "standard" Dualism was my original plan, I did some sketch of it. It might happen, as a spin-off, single deck (not planned for now).

The concept is great. But unless the queens put on more clothes I’ll sit this one out.

In this context I assume that "standard ish luxury courts" would be like TGW courts or something similar. Your courts are very non standard, which is good, but many collectors appreciate both and some prefer one or the other.

If you have one TWI deck, imo that’s all you need. Same heavy line work … every deck looks the same to me.

Not true though.... because if you compare Delirium with Modern Idol, they're different

Sure, if you pay attention and appreciate the nuances, you can see they are all different. At first glance, however, it's really hard to differentiate the decks as the art is similar in style. At a result, I'm much more selective when it comes to TWI. Monolith and Devotion are exquisite works, for example, and I'm glad I have some of those.

I see a few different styles. They may have some similar design aspects but overall different. He produces many decks of each style and that may give the impression of too many similarities. Each producer has their own notable style that can be seen throughout their decks. I can look at S17 decks or other designers and have the same criticism of many decks having the same type of art. I do agree that with so many twi decks, it has become a bit much with reoccurring designs. The latest Obsession decks are a good example of this for me. The decks could use more effort in originality sometimes.

They appear very different to me as well

I agree, I used to buy all of Gio's work but there was a distinct similarity (and far far far too many variants of each deck for me along with names that made it hard for me to keep track) so I just decided a couple years ago that 96 different decks from Thirdway was enough for me. :D :D :D

There's definitely design similarities. "Have one, have em all" is definitely not quite a fair assessment though.

The bigger differentiation from one series to the next in my mind becomes thematic and lore based. Mileage will vary on how much any one collector gets into that stuff, but I tend to love the lore...so the series always manage to keep it interesting for me.

That's one of the reasons that I appreciate your TWI reviews specifically. You go into detail regarding the lore behind each card which can be captivating as a viewer, even if I'm not necessarily a buyer of the deck itself.

That's why I am here to help anybody who's following TWI with my list. My updated list is in the other forum (PiPTuck), though XD

That's where I fall as well. I don't back every single campaign, but I eventually buy at least one deck from every TWI series when Gio has a sale. And I am attracted to the symbols that remain consistent across his designs, like the Ouroboros.
