Greetings UC!

I wanted to share a bit of information regarding the 2024 DotY (Deck of the Year) Awards, including the announcement that the standalone website is up and running and AWAITING YOUR NOMINATIONS!

> > > www.dotyawards.org < < <

As a longtime member of UC, I have enjoyed and cherished the DotY Awards. In recent years, as many of you are aware, the awards migrated to P52 due to some behind-the-scenes UC ownership changes. This led to some exciting new opportunities but also felt a bit like an abrupt departure to members of UC. While there isn't much that could have been done at that point, I still believe in the ultimate purpose of the DotYs, even if that means the program needed to find a new home. Fast-forward to this year's awards and another decision had to be made to develop a standalone platform. Without getting into too much detail, P52 is facing the very real possibility of shutting down for good. Those involved with the DotY Awards don't have the access necessary to keep the P52 site running aside from very minimal access to do minor fixes to database access. With that potential looming, it was decided that a dedicated DotY page be developed in an effort to maintain the program's momentum heading into 2025.

Feel free to browse the website and read about the purpose of the site and find out who is involved in the "ABOUT" section. Also check out the FAQs! As part of the volunteer group who helped with last year's efforts, I help market the DotY Awards and I help coordinate sponsor prizes. Feel free to ask me anything and please submit your nominations for the 2024 DotYs!

Glad to hear it was a smooth experience! I will pass that along to @suicideviking - his graphics and voting platform turned out wonderful. Over 600 votes already!

It was VG but a bit of work if you take it seriously LOL.
I know I am lazy but I suggested links to the DOTY and ROTY nominees so that people are making informed choices after viewing all the nominees
I did not vote in Magic or Cardistry as they are not my thing and thought it would be unfair to do so
Thanks team for all the hard work :ucstar: :ucstar: :ucstar: :ucstar: :ucstar:

I wonder how close the top two DOTY finishers were. Seems like very worthy finalists.

Deck of the Year was a voting category all of its own and I think Elettra's deck was a standout

But under a different system where points were accumulated from the other categories, 2nd and 3rd could have won

Thanks again to the organizers for all their work and service to the card community :ucstar: :ucstar: :ucstar: :ucstar: :ucstar:

I've always wondered how they can make the awards more transparent without upsetting anyone. Every year, there are a few winners that seem unexpected to meβ€”like Best Cardistry Deck. I have total respect for Emily, but I do wonder how many active cardists voting in this category.

We do not want to be insensitive but maybe the organizers could publish the number of votes received by 1st and 2nd in each category along with the total votes

Big thanks to DeepCard for posting the category winners. The turnout was a huge success with over 1000 unique voters this year. Each category averaged around 650 votes with the Best Magic Deck category receiving the most votes at 731!

The most winning vote is 171 and at least you need 56 votes. interesting.
that’s quite a gap! It shows how competitive some categories were while others had a lower threshold to make it onto the list.

very cool event! did'nt knew it exist :) the nominees are awesome, and the categories also. I think maybe a "best Joker" category could be cool also! Does anyone know how to enter the contest?

There was a best Joker category and this year was really strong for that one!

To enter the giveaway contest, you just have to register and vote for your favorites in whichever categories you choose. Your name goes into a pool and we draw from that pool to give away some very cool prizes. If you are talking about how to enter as a creator, simply produce a deck of cards and wow the collectors! It just has to be delivered to backers within the year of the competition.
