Whispering Imps®: Gamesters Edition -- Live on KS

Hey everybody...just thought I'd share some photos of the Gamesters with all of you. Because it's a brand new deck (and not a recolor) I'll be going through Kickstarter to fund it. The KS page will go live on Monday, December 15th.

Enjoy,

-Chris

Everything looks great! The back is a bit too somple for my taste, but it looks elegant. Good job!

Will you use USPCC or EPCC?

Thank you. Yes the whole idea was to reverse what I did with the first edition.

First Edition Whispering Imps = Intricate Back Design/Clean Tuck Design

Gamesters = Clean Back Design/Intricate Tuck Design.

Because this deck requires perfect border registration and precision I will be printing with EPCC as they are the only manufacturer that can guarantee this. The corner pips and indices on the faces are only 3mm from the edge. I learned the hard way (and expensive way) with the Black Edition that thin borders do not print perfectly with USPCC decks unfortunately.

Do you have a time for your Kickstarter Launch? Since I'll be at work, it would be great to know what time to make sure I'm in front of a computer to pledge. Thanks!

If you have a black crown here for the 2nd Joker I'm sold... I see what you're trying to do and it may work, but it limits the cards to games with hole cards like Texas Hold'em and Omaha.... I like what you're doing.

Custom courts in the sense that they are the same vintage squeezer courts (not standard Bicycle) that were used in the original Whispering Imps, along with altered color scheme and the four corner pip placements.

The v3 (next year release) is a completely custom deck of Whispering Imps with new tuck, back and courts.

Looks nice, but I think the K next to the inner pip doesn't look that good....

@see_squared - I think you can make the indices a bit smaller. You managed to put the "K" next to the suit indicator inside the card and make it work...

Looks great, i'll be getting this for sure.

Funny if this was a Madison deck everyone would be whining and complaining about it.

Yes, these are gorgeous, I agree that the backs could be more elaborate but I guess when sliding them out of the detailed tuckbox and next to the jokers etc the solid colour might just compliment the overall look nicely.

Yes, everything was very intentional with the design of the Gamesters. It was important to set this deck apart from the original while maintaining elegance. The original Whispering Imps sported a very intricate back design and were housed within a very simple, iconic tuck box. The Gamesters incorporate just the opposite - a very simple and iconic back design with an intricate, elaborate tuck box.

You're right, but these are at least part of a series and brand that isn't all simplistic designs made from two initials or a logo. I won't be getting these personally, but I know Chris had plans for these as part of the series in a way that made a lot of sense. And I'm pretty sure there's no plans to make these in new colors within the next 6 months.

The difference between Chris and Madison/Zack is day and night in my opinion.

@see_squared - Is it me or is the "K", "Q", and "J" have different size fonts. It seems the "Q" is a bit skinny. I think fonts should be consistent in most cases.

You just made a major design change to your cards. You now have indices in each of the corners. Tell ya the truth, I really don't think you need the rank of the card there anymore. It's unnecessary information. I not trying to give you a hard time, but do you think you might be rushing things a bit? You might want to step back and look at your new design. You have the rank of the card in there 5 times.

I also think your courts can be bigger. You have a lot of white space between your indices and your court border. Hell, you could fit another spade in there...

Sense you have all that extra space have about putting the imps as marginals like Sergio Argones did in Mad Magazine. It would go with your theme with the imps. Or they could play hide and seek in the pip cards. Marginals <<<--------

I could be mistaken, but this isn't a 'change' it's a different deck entirely to the original Imps - these are useful for poker peeking! :)

I saw Chris update the number of that pledge from 1 to 4, five minutes before live which was a nice thing to do

I agree, was shocked that I had gotten it, then I saw that it was upped to 4. Very nice, Chris. Thanks for that!

(Guess this means I can open the private reserve deck I got earlier now...)

Not a fan of this one at all... boring back, semi-standard faces, the only thing I really like is the ace. A definite pass for me, but I look forward to the next deck which is supposed to be entirely custom.

I'm in on this one but not sure if I'm going to keep it. Messed up that there are so many decks coming out that we can say, "I don't like this deck and even though it's part of a series, I can still pass.

I agree with everything above.
