Royal Playing Cards...
Originally the artist had hand drawn the black & white sketchy version and wants to finish it that way...
But we would like to see colors into it...
Please give us your feedback which route to follow !!

Of these, I think I prefer the first. Although I think the shadows or whatever have to go, especially the bit on the top left of the head. They look like artifacts left from a bad copy or fax, makes it look less sharp and less finished. If that were changed I could see how the 2nd one would suddenly become preferred.

Reminds me of the European repro decks, I prefer the second one definitely. Maybe change some of the browns for some burnt orange. But definitely not a color palette as discordant as the third. Perhaps keep the palette in the burnt autumn color range. I feel there's too much brown there.

Well if you're calling it Royal, then it definitely needs some bright jewel like colors.

I can understand the reasoning for the b&w, however it seems like the contrast is tuned up too high, perhaps a white less stark would be good. But im with the guys in choosing the 2nd, the colours are attractive, once again the stark white face is a little too harsh.

What i really want to comment on is the queen and spade pip needs a complete make over

The second one has the most appeal for me. The third is too garish. The first, too "unfinished."

+1 to this. The shadow really does look like a poor quality copy/fax. Getting rid of that would help a lot. Of the 3, I think I'd have to reserve judgment until after the shadow is removed. I might actually like the 1st and/or 2nd but the shadow makes it difficult for me to pick any of them, although I'm pretty sure I wouldn't pick 3 either way. I'd actually like to see some more color options besides the 2 shown.

I agree with everyone else (pretty much) - the second one.

I prefer the first one. The color choices in the second one are too drab for me. The brighter colors of the third one would be my second choice.

ok guys we have worked on these a little to finish the shady effect. Hope now it looks better.
The original designer hand drew it and was unable to complete it but our frontline designer Charles from Blackout Brother will finish this deck for us :)
I have asked Charles to extend the art further to narrow down the white border space....

I kinda liked the texture. Added depth to the image. Maybe just clean the original up a bit but don't remove the texture entirely? Just enough to take away some of the flatness.

Just wondering but what would the original look like without the shading? I still like the original better but if I had to choose a color, I'd choose the first one. The second is just way to bright.

Also, I do not like the pip at all. I guess I'm just a stickler for symmetrical pips.

Definitely the 4th one for me, but I suppose the choice of color is very subjective. Will be interesting to see others' opinion of these.

4th here as well, but I don't really care for the boxed in court look and I think that may look better with a white or lighter background. Of these though, I think the 4th pops the most without looking muted like the middle ones.

Definitely liking the 4th one with the 1st one being my next choice.

I'll go with 4, but with the caveat that the embedded spade symbol should be bordered in white so it shows up better against the grey background.

In the first three it is very clear. 4th one - not so much.

@Gamblers Warehouse - So we are looking at a fixer up deck. Hmm. A queen with armor and a 3-Diish effect. I like the way the scepter sticks out from the border. Hmm. Put the custom pip as the suit indicator also. It looks to be 51% black. So, you can see it at a distance.

Whattt how can anyone not vote for number 2 !!! What i want to see is the cleaning up of ALL the spade pips in the picture, including those on the scroll.. They just look bad..

I like the 3rd one. I don't like the gray background. Lots of improvement from the beginning. I like the line work throughout, but the coloring hasn't been the greatest.

I like the 3rd one as well. However, if the gray background of the 4th wasn't quite so dark I think I could be swayed to it.
Also, perhaps a thin gold outline on the pip?

Definitely the best so far, colors are popping really well. Not too sure about the gray background though...

I agree, these look much better. Thank you for fixing the corner pips but I'm still not liking the irregular face pips. I just like them to be evenly symmetrical. That just my preference

This! And even the pips in the scroll should be fixed or simply gotten rid off. And yes the grey bg isnt doing it for me

I like it. Colors work, pips look good, and background doesn't stand out. Works for me.
