These look pretty good. I really like the diptych opera jokers but, yes it's just superstition, the 666 total produced and the fact that funds are being used to create a movie turned me away from this deck.

Pretty small chance this funds. The prices are ridiculously high and $15 to ship one deck to Canada on top of that and no mention of a printer, yeah no thanks.

I completely agree. There are a few artists I definitely will back, with exceptions, but I've been passing on a lot of decks lately.

The creator has a group on Facebook for this deck and they think it's a great value apparently, the creator even mentioned how Jackson Robinson sells foil decks for $36, but he or she is far from Jackson Robinson in the world of cards.

And yes it definitely seems like projects are struggling more and more to fund even from people like Collectable Cards, Crooked King Cards, Jamm Pakd Cards, and others.

Hi guys,

Thanks for post and comments. I'm the creator of this deck ^^
I must say that jerichoholic took my words out of context. There is no chance I would compare myself with Jackson whose decks I poses too.
Firstly, our prices are in $AUD ! not US dollars (1$AUD=0,77$usd).
Secondly, we are from Europe and getting cards from Bicycle (etc) is not easy at all! But we are trying our best to give a GOOD deck, hand-drawn and original artwork and cards with golden foiled edges (gilded), two boxes (tuck box with emboss and luxurious black box with golden logo print on the lid), certificates with serial numbers etc.
This is the first POTO deck and this one is never gonna be printed again. So, yeah price (again AUD) is a bit higher but again - we are 20% funded already.

So who likes rare collectibles - go for it and thank you :)

I really like the deck (maybe make the joker not border-less?) and I would've back it if I didn't think this price is outrageous...

There have been decks with similar features that don't cost this much. Just because you don't plan on printing it again isn't a strong reason for me to raise the price up. There are plenty of LE decks out there that sold at regular price points, now if it's something like the ICONS deck then that's a different story. I personally think if a LE is worth the price, it'll show on the aftermarket.

Best of luck to you.

+1. Just because something is rare doesn't make it valuable. I like the art and love Phantom, but sorry, gotta pass.

I was looking forward to this one, im such a big fan of phantom, artwork is decent (not mindblowing) as well. A pity about the direction that this deck took which resulted in sky high prices.

Ok guys I'm awake so here is an explanation (I'll post an update soon too):
The reason why it's not known company: we are not from US! Having USPCC is not an option. Import/tax costs are far to great. Importing this big number of decks pulls a question of gambling services, which asks for additional licenses etc. Bottom line? Not worth doing that.
Our deck is created for some time now, and we were exploring a LOT options before we finally started. We worked a numerous projects that included golden/silver foil and similar products (for pricy weddings, special occasions etc.). As you all can imagine, that is touchy moment, and I'm much more conformable printing somewhere where we can control. So that's why we are creating smaller batch that will be overlooked and handled. It's much more logical and doable. Thus a bit higher price, but not that high having in mind what this deck will have and presents.
Besides animation, we have huge design and printing department where we handle bunch of projects. As mentioned, we are working on POTO Animated feature and making this Deck looking good is a must for future needs, plans and goals. It will be really a rare collectible.

Hope this clears questions for bit.
I'm here if you guys have more questions :)

As a fellow Aussie - who has about 2000 decks, including at least 600 unique USPCC decks, and some quite rare ones - the prices you have are simply incredibly rich. You mention the perceived/hopeful rarity of these decks, that's great.... one day. The minute they're printed they are arguably worth their production cost - maybe there will be demand in the future that will push them up, but they need to be desirable as well as simply limited.

You aparently mentioned Jackson, well Jackson got to where he is today by producing some very nice decks at reasonable prices in limited numbers from respected printers, SOME of which have become very sought after. If he'd have popped along here with his Federal 52 project and asked for ~$30 USD a deck he'd still be doing whatever he was previously doing. In that project you will find the posts on this forum with many questioning this unknown guys credibility - only after the decks were printed and in some of our hands did the demand really grow to the point that some of us are now prepared to pay $120 USD for one of his rare decks. (Some of his decks - I'm looking at you Sherlock Holmes series - aren't worth much more than was paid when printed a couple of years ago)

Your project has already caught some attention based on current support, so you'll probably fund irrespective of my (or this communities) doubt. Best of luck.

Thanks Gareth (:
Actually I'm not Aussie, project is fund through partner from Melbourne - we're Europe-based. But 70% of our clients are from Australia/New Zealand.. both animation & design.

Anyway, yeah I follow Jackson for some time now, I have also Sherlock and Moriarty deck. There is no way I would compare our deck with his work and experience so far. We are noobs and I know that. Just we are in disadvantage not being in US since big percentage of collectors are there, and you see for yourself how messed up Europe is :|
The Phantom Deck is intended as collectible not for resell, and ... yeah maybe bit more for phantom fans then for card collectors.
On the end as said - after some time we were facing two choices: go for it or not. I was thinking it would be shame not to try and give them a chance.

Thanks again man ;)

Ouch. I'm used to having to pay high prices to get decks here, but unfortunately that's a bit to steep for me.
Shame too, I was going to try and score some brownie points with some friends of mine who are Phantom fans (of the Opera variety, not the purple superhero variety).

I hope your deck funds though.

I would definitely pledge for a non-foiled, non-embossed, non-small print run, non-specialty boxed $9.99 version.

Sorry :) maybe some future deck. I prefer special decks, more interesting more fun and makes collection really special. $9.99 version is impossible for me as non-US citizen... damn... shipment is $9.99

Why dont you try to hook up with LPCC ? They provide fulfillment straight from factory, the decks dont have to ever enter EU.

As has been mentioned I believe, it doesn't matter where in the world you are. You can produce cards at a reasonable price and ship them reasonably and there are many options for having them shipped to customers right from the US to save on costs.

Also as someone mentioned on Facebook, why is there no mention whatsoever in the project about these "partners" from Australia. There shouldn't be mysterious in any Kickstarter project.

We are definitely not mysterious - check the phantom website, phantom facebook page, twitter, tumblr, iluzija site or quickest - kickstarter profile and BIO where it clearly says coproduction and bla bla...

We're taking Legend in consideration but there are multiple factors to consider. If you think that giving somebody else to do shipment for you (from US) is cheaper/better - you're mistaken. Its true that most of collectors are from US, but maybe half. Plus that one doing the shipments would need to be paid and costs cover.
Guys, you really think we didn't think through ALL this before starting? Well, we did.

Btw. we are currently at 48% funded with 90 backers in 25 hours! Thanks to all who supported us from here :)

These are the specifications we got from the printer we inquired about the cards printing:
black core paper 310 gsm , air cushion finish, casino quality
glossy finish
embossed tuck box
hard box with gold hot stamping
24k gold foil for the card edges
certificate with gold foil printing.

Printer is local one (Temilov), who're working on all sorts of things (not just cards) but we work with them for few years and I know that they can provide quality I ask for this deck. As mentioned MPC is not offering these specification, Legend didn't bother to reply on inquiry. I'm most conformable working with these and think it is for the best.

I'm confused by that part. Are you saying these will have black card stock? And if so, why since you aren't printing a black deck?

haha, no - that means that cards wont be transparent (when turned toward the light and so), they will have that additional layer so that cards are not transparent (casino quality, imagine that you can see someones cards on light :D)
