Vizago Deck from NineLives (Whimsical Teapots)

For the past week and a half there's been discussions over at PCF of this deck being designed by Annette Abolins, aka @NineLives (who is also a member of this forum) that created the Nine Lives poker and standard decks, but since it hasn't been discussed yet here I thought I would be sure the rest of you are aware here too.

See the thread at PCF and details in her blog for all of the latest, but basically it was inspired by some teapots she created. Still in early design with temporary working title.

Just FYI, her blog and PCF (links in OP) continues to be updated with possible plans and tweaks for this deck. With the largest open question is how the number cards will look. There's also discussion on the final name.

Additional discussion also continues at PCF - http://www.playingcardforum.com/index.php?topic=9592

Hello all!

Thank you so much ecNate for posting about my new deck here! I am truly sorry that I've been away for so long ...
I find that especially while working on art projects my wish to keep up a formidable forum etiquette fails me dismally  I would have loved to have kept you updated on the process of designing this deck here as well :)

Despite that I've been off wandering in the woods, I do hope you will be excited about the upcoming launch of this deck :) All the artwork is now complete and I'm setting up the campaign on KS while waiting for figures to come through so I can finalise rewards and goal. It's super exciting and little daunting (being my first campaign and bigger than my Nine Lives decks) - can't wait! :)

ecNate, I'm not sure if I should start a new thread or keep this one going? In the mean time, I thought I'd share a few images of the finished designs:

VIZAĜO - Lumina (red):

Court cards and tuck box:

Aces:

Number cards (diamonds):

Jokers:

VIZAĜO - Lumino (blue) - stretch goal:

The two colour versions have identical faces, but different card back and box. The idea follows through from the Jokers, where the red Joker picks up the colour palette of hearts and diamonds - and the 'black' Joker is dressed in colours from spades and clubs. The two deck versions (Lumina / Lumino) are a name play on light vs dark (or day vs night).

Thanks for looking!
Annette :)

I love the pips and Aces but the courts are too big and freaky for me. I'll see how the project goes and maybe I will get used to them. Sorry. :(

Thanks so much all you speedy forum dwellers! :)

@guru @MagikFingerz - truly glad and humbling to hear!

@shermjack - thank you! Launch will be happening, I hope, within the next two weeks - and I'd be happy to post a preview link here once I have a few more things in place (love to hear your feedback, so anything amiss can be fixed before launch :))

@RichK - please don't be sorry, especially when you're so kind about your opinion [SMILING FACE WITH SMILING EYES] Glad you like aces and number cards, and who knows, with time [SMILING FACE WITH SMILING EYES]

@Oscar and Azid - thank you, glad to hear [SMILING FACE WITH SMILING EYES][SMILING FACE WITH SMILING EYES]

Sorry about the 'screaming emoticons' - android seems to translate in the literal sence ... :)

Hello everyone!

Here is a link to preview the campaign: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/19 ... n=64ab81fa

I'd be ever so grateful for any thoughts or feedback you might have...

Some details still need finalising (funding goal might change when I have a better idea of the final costs), more rewards will be added and a few more things ... but hopefully you get an idea of how VIZAĜO plans to meet the world :)

The choice of card finish is between LPCC Elite and Classic (I like both and curious to hear of preference in card community)

Thanks for stopping by.
Annette :)

I think you said over at PCF that you are still looking at shipping methods/providers, so maybe it's not finished yet, but I have a few comments probably related to that. The single deck cost with shipping to US is about right for all involved, but the add on price to add another deck should be LESS than this. Based on your current tiers it should probably be between 17-18 $AU. Think of somebody who wants 4 decks since your current tiers only go up to 3 decks...Really though you need a 6 deck and 12 deck option, PLUS add a more reasonable add on deck price. If you are already shipping a deck (or 6 or 12), adding another deck generally doesn't add much in shipping and you want to encourage people to add more, currently nobody will add more at that cost.

Lastly, have you confirmed the shipping and material cost for shipping an uncut? Many projects over charge for the uncut even accounting for costs there, but many are also surprised on the cost for the tube and shipping it.

Oh, and I don't care much about details on finish here.

Artwork still looks great though, looking forward to it.

Thanks so much ecNate, your feedback and comments on shipping and pricing is exactly the sort of advice I need!! :)

I put together the current 'draft' pricing based on rough estimates (and they'll need some tweaking)... I expect to have more precise figures by the end of the week, which will let me fix the prices and add the rest of the reward tiers (there will be at least 4 deck, half brick & brick).

I'm truly glad you pointed out the add-on issue, thank you - I will absolutely fix that :)

Shipping will be done by Gambler's Warehouse, given their experience and good reputation, I am confident fulfillment will be in good hands. The dilemma for me (in deciding how to ship), was the logistics of deck creator in Australia, deck printing in Taiwan and backers in ?? Though things are becoming clearer :)

I knew that running my first KS campaign would be a big learning curve - I am so grateful to all of you who have offered feedback and helpful suggestions, it means a lot to me

Annette :)
