A friend let me know about these a few weeks back. These are promotional decks handed out to employees of J Crew, and a few selected premiere customers.
Never to be for sale.


I was able to secure the sets a couple weeks back, and they arrived yesterday. I'm very happy!

I have a friend who works for Jcrew Corporate and they just confirmed with me that they no longer have any stock of these cards (either to sell or give away). Good find though!

Of course you did. How did you even manage to get any if they are only for employees and a few select customers? They didn't want them themselves?

And no i'm not angry or trying to be whiny, i'm just frustrated that it's always the same thing and the same people finding stuff that no one knows exists. This forum should be used for SHARING information on decks and not just gloating. Since these are impossible to find, this is just gloating.

Your post certainly comes across as being angry and/or whiny. He DID share information on a deck he found, and I didn't take his post to be gloating at all. He found a cool set and he showed it to the community. I'm not sure what he did wrong.

Yes he shared information but only AFTER he got himself and on decks no one else will likely be able to find.

Maybe I have some issues with it but I'm not the only one with issues here.

It's not that he got the decks it's that only he gets these decks. Would be nice if other people happened to get them every now and then.

Victor, he posted about these decks so you and everyone else on this forum can know about them, which is exactly what you are asking for! How else do you want him to do this? Post the link where to get them from and hope that no one buys them before he does? It seems that you feel like you should be entitled to something...I'm sure that you sometimes get some free decks from people/creators to review but nobody complains about that do they?!

I personally found these decks on eBay and after purchasing a set I pointed Jay in the right direction. As far as I know there has already been about 5 sets of these for sale on eBay so he isn't the only one who managed to get a set! If you want to own these or any other hard to find decks then spend more time searching. If you don't have time for that then stop complaining and just be happy with what you already have and that you are part of this amazing community which does share what decks are out there, after all if you weren't a member here then you probably wouldn't even know about a lot of deck!

I agree that I would not have known about these if he hadn't shared them, that it doesn't come across as gloating, and I don't expect him to write up a detailed essay that includes all of his methods and sources and points of contact, I am grateful that I get to see cool decks I can then go try find on my own.

I do believe that if someone knows how to get more of a sought after deck they will share how to do that.
But I suspect in many of these cases there aren't more available to be had, and without knowing the motivation, I don't condemn someone for not sharing their sources.
It could be that he knows an individual that has an advantageous ability to get some of these rarer decks and he doesn't want to abuse that relationship by posting the contact publicly for all of us to assault with demands and requests.

It's nothing magical. Slav told me about them. I found them on ebay.. and i bought them.
I ignore Victor because he's a whiney negative person.

This is like the 5th or 6th time he's done this speech. He always comes off like a spoiled entitled brat.

I have to say I thought whoa a miracle that VJ didn't complain, but we know better than that.

For everyone here a note to yourselves, if you have a great find let VJ know first then buy one for yourself then let the forum know about it last.

I'd like to add that I totally get where Jholic is coming from, it's really frustrating for me when someone gets something I want and can't find. I completely relate to how he feels

You are being whiny....so what if it's the same person finding rare stuff?
He looks for rare deck and found them which makes him better at what we all try to do.

Stop being so entitled.

Jay don't owe anyone anything, I don't find him gloating...he is actually doing a service by letting people on this forum know there are such deck. (then the hunt beings!)

Some folks can be bothered by it, there is a section of forum, called "show us your cards", Probably won't gardner any heat there at all for the same post, maybe Mr. V expects this area is for News, new releases, and general info sharing, Oppose to a New Release "I" just got type posts.

About my collecting practices... (taken from another thread)



The conversation that is happening in this thread is why I post DRAMATICALLY less than I used to.
I'm going to put it as point blank as possible... the feeling of entitlement some of you have sometimes makes me sick.
Do you guys think it's just pure luck that I keep finding these rare decks? Do you think they just fall on my lap?
The answer is a huge "NO"

Over the last 6-7 years I've done the leg work to get these sources. I've sat on the computer for many MANY hours researching to find all these different decks I come across. I've made overseas calls, built relationships, kept in contact with people I've reached out to, and drop them a line from time to time to see what's new. I have a gauntlet of different searches I do everyday. I've put in huge amounts of time and effort to build my Bicycle collection with some of the rarest and hardest ones to find. The Suncity, Gold New Era, and others took me YEARS to track down. So, why should I just divulge the names of these people I've made relationships with?? If I did that, they would be inundated with messages from people looking for decks (even though most of them only have 1 to spare).
So, go out... put the time in, do the research... don't sit back and wait for someone else to do it for you.

Its a fact.
Entitlement, Instant Gratification and that ole Manufactured Rarity go Hand in Hand with the outsourcing of your own legwork, expecting others to do the hard yards.

Jay, don't get discouraged by VJ. In fact I love seeing his posts about why life doesn't go his way. Keep posting your great finds. I appreciate them and doesn't bother me not one bit. I mean that's why we have this forum to share what we feel like sharing. Please don't stop posting because that 0.01% isn't happy? Oh well life sucks for some. I'm here everyday for the new stuff that is coming out. Exciting?!? Oh hell yes. Jealous> Oh hell no!!! More power to everyone who finds stuff and gets it!

Sure I'm entitled, I'm not the one with the hookup getting all the decks. You don't think spending all that time looking for decks is a problem?

I'm not asking anyone to do all the legwork and I have no problem searching for stuff, but it's kinda hard to do when you lack information and how to get this information.

One of my favorite decks in my collection is the gold New Era deck, a deck I wouldn't have known was out there if it wasn't for you CBJ, so really I owe you a 'thank you' for posting it. I like these topics, keep them coming

Well I may be one of the few that "complains" but I'm betting there's people who are afraid to speak up because everyone will pounce on them.

Anyway I'm glad everyone is just peachy with only a couple of select people getting the hard to find decks and only helping each other out for the most part.

Maybe I would be more receptive if he didn't outright shun me from making deals with him. I have tried to things right and apologize to no avail. I won't bother commenting on anything he posts any more.
