Can't imagine the rights for this were cheap but here's hoping the decks are. If so I know what my entire family is getting for Christmas this year. Where's Shemp??

Interesting thing is that Shemp Howard was one of the original Three Stooges when the show was on Vaudeville and Larry Howard (his younger brother in real life) replaced him when they started filming the TV shorts...Moe Howard was the third brother.
I hope these decks become a reality, if they are not already...can't wait to see the courts!

I just hope they don't go crazy and make 6 decks for
all of the stooges. Because nobody wants a Curly Joe or Joe Besser deck. But a Shemp deck would be nice and almost necessary IMO (they could make it green).

I always thought Shemp was the best "third" Stooge.

I always get confused with the names. I know Shemp b/c he wasn't regular on the shorts but which other was which. Curly was the bald one, right?

Yes, Curly bald, Moe black hair bowl cut style, Larry curly hair.
Shemp was on the original first shorts but wanted to do more professional acting. Curly actually had a full head of curly hair but they had him shave it so there would be a unique look to each Stooge. Fast forward to 28 years ago, Matt Groening wanted each Simpsons/Futurama character to have a unique hair style so you could tell who it was if you just saw the hair style.

Harpo was the one who didn't talk. (Fast forward 28 years ago, and Penn Jillette teams up with Teller and they decide to make a shtick out of Teller not talking during their act.) Groucho was the one with the ridiculous mustache. Zippo was a lighter. Bozo was the clown.

Will there be repeating courts like Three Little Pigs?

Now live.
$49 for 3 STANDARD decks shipped. My family are all such huge Stooges fans so this set would be a great present but not at that price. Of course, Jack$on is involved so you knew the prices had to be outrageous.

That's a massive $55,000 goal. Can't say i'm overly impressed with them, also unneeded tuck swaps just because! They look like a Jackson Robinson deck with Stooges faces. Also $125 for the collectors box...Jody Eklunds are not even half that price if I recall correctly.

Thank you for your support everyone. This has been the biggest project I've been involved with to date in regards to playing cards. A massive undertaking over the past year to obtain the rights, develop concepts, scratch those concepts and start over, source suppliers for the collector box (we received quotes from all over the world), and ultimately end up with what we've got now which is a beautiful set of playing card commemorating The Three Stooges.
At first glance the goal may seem high, but that's is true to what we need to make in order to produce 6 decks and the collector box to meet bare minimums. These collector boxes are each made by hand here in the USA with premium materials. We've spared no expense to give enthusiasts and fans of The Three Stooges something to keep forever. While the playing cards will be manufactured by the UPSCC, the collector boxes are made by a separate company I've sourced out myself and built a nice relationship with over the past year.
I'm hopeful we meet our goal so we can proceed with producing this entire project. You're support means so much to me and the team and I welcome you all to share this with your friends and family who are fans of The Three Stooges.

Considering this is a Jackson design I’m surprised it hasn’t funded yet and seeing that it isn’t even close doesn’t look good. Is Jackson not even promoting it? Also you don’t need 6 tucks. In fact it seems nowadays very few projects are doing special tucks as decks already come with special tucks.

CHRIS CHELKO.
Chris Chelko.
Right.
Now we understand.
Now we perceives !
For those whose eyes glaze at details, this is a Chris Chelko project, a Chris Chelko project creation ....
Humbly assisted in the art dept by yours sincerely, JR.
A Chris Chelko project licensing the Three Stooges Brand ....
All above board, all very expensive, brought at great deliberation to us all by Chris Chelko.
Can we get on board this delightful piece of Nostalgia, NOSTALGIA, note, and try to have a laugh and a chuckle while the hard grind of funding same nostalgic funnybusiness gets some traction ?
Chris would be delighted to relieve you of any pre-conceptioned assumptions you might be tempted to highlight, I am sure.
Or you could rabbit on (dumdeedeedee>self-edit<deedumdeedum) and thus (edit) a fine project. Those fixating on the minor collaborator, take deep breaths, go for a walk, get some air.
Ahhhh, options and opinions, the delight of UC, the bane of bigotry.
Rousselle ....
Help me here.
Please change this title to NOW LIVE ! etc.
Ta.

I like the Stooges but $49 is a lot for poorly looking courts in my opinion. The heads don't flow into the bodies, more like bad Photoshop.
6 tuck boxes is too many. You want the unlimited collector box then have Jackson use his "big deal" letterpress machine to make custom tucks for the collector box. The cards inside are the same so you could have dropped the fancy tuck tier.
Good luck, you'll need it.

Another problem I noticed which will most definitely hinder the project is that you can ONLY get 3 decks one way or the other. Those no way to get both the standard and collectors or the premium set and no way to get 3 of each or a brick or anything like that. That will surely hurt the funding if everyone can only get 1 set of each. No addons whatsoever that I can tell.

Actually, that's a good point. Chris C., have you considered adding a tier to allow backers to pledge for all six variations? Or, allowing add-ons? It might help boost interest.
I realize that JR is taking some flak here on the boards (and that a lot of that is self-inflicted, to be sure), but nonetheless, JR remains a talented designer and Chris Chelko has always run a nice, tight campaign. Quite frankly, this sounds like an ideal combination.
I, for one, hope this project succeeds.

I, too thought it was strange that only 3 tiers of rewards offered without add-ons, but Chris did mention in the comments section that they will allow for add-ons later in the campaign. Still, I think some minor tweaks could help this project move faster and hope that Chris can adjust as I would like to see this project succeed as well.

I love Chris's art and have all but the rarest Whispering Imps decks - but I've never really understood the love for the Stooges.
The art is great, but hte Nostalgia factor isn't there for me...

I love the Stooges. But I don't love $16.33 per deck shipped. Even putting my recent disdain for JR I would still consider backing this deck based simply on the fact that it's the Stooges. And like I said in an earlier post, I knew it would be expensive to purchase the licenses for this but IMO the juice wasn't worth the squeeze. I think the super high funding goal will eventually prove me right when it doesn't fund. Although the Whispering Imps aren't my style I respect and support them and wish them luck.

A year ago I probably wouldn't have hesitated buying these because of JR, but the nostalgia isn't there for me, and the JR effect has lost its luster.
I don't care one way or another for Chris Chelko. It's Mark Stutzman that draws me to the Whispering Imps.

Thank you to those of you over the years for your kind words and support however it is quite sad and rather disappointing to see a part of this community filled with so much negativity and hate.
As with all campaigns, it's always evolving and we're just finding our feet. More tiers will be added...and updates to include along the way.
This project was designed with The Three Stooges fan in mind. They are a series of playing cards because that is the product I have the most experience producing. Jackson and I have wanted to collaborate on something together for years and this was the perfect opportunity to do so...project of this magnitude can take a lot of time and dedication (especially on top of full time jobs and family). We don't do these projects because we have to, we do them because we want to. We both have a passion to create, to be a part of something special, to preserve history with a medium that we love. That is what we intend to do.

The fact that you're still here (on UC) facing your adversaries head-on is a testament to your tenacity which is a hell of a lot more than I can say for JR who clearly doesn't have the fortitude to deal with any negativity whatsoever and I commend you for that. But you have to realize that this forum isn't only filled with negativity. There is a pattern- threads about decks that are simple and inexpensive normally receive lots of praise and either fund (if they're projects) or get purchased (if they're already made). Concordantly, threads about decks that are "over the top" with bells and whistles which are priced accordingly, reflecting their extras also receive lots of praise. Threads that contain negativity are about decks that are either very lazy/too minimal (which I believe this is not), have poorly run campaigns (which may or may not even reflect the deck itself), or are not priced properly. I believe these to be the later.
So is there hate and negativity on this thread? You bet. But is it deserved? Well that's up for debate but I think YES. This forum exists to discuss playing cards, good or bad. This isn't a place to showcase playing cards in hopes to get ones tires pumped. But if you're looking for praise please refer to the pattern I pointed out and adjust accordingly. I'm sorry if I cannot get excited about overpriced decks and if that offends you, please lower the price. You had to have known there would be risks trying to cover the cost of licenses and setting a very above average funding goal so don't get mad at us for pointing it out.

While I can't speak for others I for one am not questioning the amount of work, time, and dedication that went into these. In fact I like them so much that I wish I could afford them. But for the pricing reasons I mentioned above I just can't.

Why hasn’t Jackson Robinson put the word out on this campaign? He always gets tons of support and I feel like if he would inform backers of his previous kickstarters and sent an email like Chelko did, there would be more support to reach the $55K goal. I haven’t seen him advertising this campaign on social media or as an update on his recent kickstarter projects.

Good question.
Purely speculation: Maybe he realizes that his name might do more harm than good for a collaboration campaign?

I tend to think that most of the "ill will" towards him mainly exists on this forum. Only a hunch based on the fact that his projects still seem to fund without issue. While I do think it's odd he hasn't promoted this yet I'm also glad because I hate getting spammed with all his previous campaigns whenever he starts a new project. Either way I think when he does finally promote this project that it will surly help, might it might just be bricks in the Grand Canyon with this funding goal.

haha, easy guys. I'm only 2 days into the campaign...the next 3 weeks of promotion is planned out. Not bothered with getting funded in the first day, if I were...I'd run a 1 day campaign.

The quick fix is to uncheck the notification box in your settings...I've done this for some projects that I prefer not to get emails about.
