Hello, guys. I'd like to show you the first cards of the new deck "Lords of Tanks". The Second World War gave birth to many legendary names and feats. I decided to honour this people and create a deck, where will be shown not only the highest military officials, but also ordinary tankers (men and women), who have smashed hundreds hostile tanks. Here you see the first tries of design. Would appreciate your comments and suggestions.

Generalfeldmarschall Erwin Rommel popularly known as the Desert Fox
I would prefer it with it since it's a historical deck and a nice design. It's not like your glorifying what they did or displaying the flag directly. Especially since all the other flags are there. It would be out of place and bowing to PC types to change the one. Amazing work and great design, I love the flag addition. Although I would prefer if you kept it to well known historical figures. Will just the courts have figures or all cards?
Thanks for your comments. I really don't know if KS, for example, accepts this project because of Nazi logo - it's a good question. I wanted to use the flags of the countries, not of the armies - they're not so recognisable. Anyway, I'll study this question and then'll decide.
PC ?
PC ..?
PC .... ?!!
You'll be Correct in remembrin' that 20,000,000 died horribly because of that flag, in one country alone .... ?
Also in rememberin' what your grandparents sacrificed in their lifetimes, in the rather large and correct struggle against what that flag represented then ....
.... and for what it still represents now, under other flags .... ?
I do not think that flag is banned, so much as it is not flown any more, not re-produced any more, not encouraged, Not Suffered Under Any More !
P.C. ?
Sheesh.
Hang your heads for a little while.
Every nation has its share of nazis still, now, to this day.
You dont, repeat, you do not need to go helping them.
O, I beg of you your comprehensions,
yet laugh at your contempts ....
my only competition is with myselves.
But Lèse-majesté, especially >Normans, natch.
Is jarnstill the Ars of the Hors Nebulous ?
Neigh .... the Effluxor of the Omniverse ??
Yes what the Nazis did was beyond deplorable. As a historical deck though I feel you need the flag. Remember, those who forget history are doomed to repeat it.
Alvin is having the same questions when he does his WW II Warships Axis decks, using swastika image, should the Allies decks fund.
And not under Rommels name either.
The little nazi thugs killed him too like they killed anyone they pleased, friend or foe.
You do not have legs on which to stand, on this.
(Like many an old Tanker, or those few who survived).
No Light. No Credibility. No Oxygen.
Not given the light of day.
Use the Weimar Cross. If you must. It is what the Panzer Regts used anyway. Not the other.
History ?
I'll give you History ....
And there are some as want it repeated.
Macarthur was a nazi. He was also nuts. Tell me, who was his Chief Publicity Officer/Head of 'Intelligence' .... ?
And from where was he originally ?
And his original name ?
Who was Allen Dulles.
Who did he really work for, prior to the Agency ?
History.
Repeating.

No ?
Do you still wish to reproduce that thing on a couple thousand decks, so all the little nazis out there have something else to wave ?
History.
Given the Versailles Treaty, and Germany's W W1 Reparations Debt, how exactly did the littlest nazi finance Germany's reconstruction ?
From where did this investment funding come from ?
Moving right along ....
Who supplied the Punch Cards which facilitated the little nazis processing of so, so many concentration camp inmates ?
Which other Great American and International Companies have histories they would rather you did not know about or be aware of .
History.
Be cautious where from and from whom you get it.

I like the direction for this deck and like the art.
I have one suggestion, try giving each suite (country) it's own sword possibly a sword that is native or originated out of the country in which it represents. It would be a small change that would add a lot of depth and contrast between the suites.

Great work!
Thanks for the idea, but there are two countries that don't have any attitude to the ancient swords - USSR and USA. maybe I"ll use military sabres of that time (WW2). The idea was to use classical elements for all the cards (bay leaf, skull and a sword as a symbol of the warrior). There will be another arms for queens and jacks.

Not just the little nazis, you see.
Bruno, first of all this is not a political or historical forum, so I'm not going to argue with you.
As for the nazi logo, I wanted to use the bands of the armies, but the details on this bands are too tiny and they won't look good on the cards.
P.S. My personal attitude to the USSR and Nazi German is absolutely negative ( especially if you know, that the USSR has killed much more people during the WW2, but you say nothing about their flag and symbols). I don't use propaganda- this is just the world history.

Anyway just follow what you think will be a good design and take in constructive feedback like Jackson gave.(not mine XD)
Will back 2 or more if the shipping don't kills me ... Can't wait
Thanks! There will be tanks on aces and the joker cards will remain a secret The shipping will be included in the deck price and maybe will have some extra costs, not big.
I have to say, if there's anything that turns me off about this deck it's the name. "Lords" just doesn't sound right to me, but maybe I'm jaded from playing fantasy genre video games and such.
Does anyone else feel the same? If so, maybe we could get some brainstorming going on what to substitute Lords with. I'd suggest World of Tanks if it wasn't the name of a game.
It doesn't work for me either, but I would still pick this up. Tank Lords is better, but something completely different would be ideal. If this is wwii focused then it seems that should be in the title too.
Thank you for the ideas! I've been thinking about the name of the deck and had some other variants. The idea was also to attract the fans of the World of Tanks (popular game) and to make the conformable name. Here are some other variants (except you've mentioned), please comment if you like them: Tank Warriors, Tank Lords, WWII Tank Lords (or Warriors).
They really look good, but it seems that the courts are repeating, except for the heads.
Also, it gives the illusion that the heads are hand drawn, but aren't they photos, manipulated to look hand drawn?
Some insight to the process would be nice. Obviously, the end result is what's the most important, regardless on how you get there. Hopefully I'm wrong about all the repeating court cards.

Yes, the courts are repeating - Kings, Queens and Jacks have special design for each, and the people on cards change. The courts are hand drawn and the portraits are made by special engraving tool.
Should you have missed that bit, the town is there still.
As they left it.
You can see for yourself.
Product of the ss panzer division das reich.
Have a nice day.
