Hey guys, I was keep thinking about whether we should have a separate section for cardistry decks? (in addition to New & Custom Decks), or may be rename the two section as "cardistry-related" and "non-cardistry"?
My logic is as follow:
More and more decks designed for cardistry are coming to the market, the separation may benefit the forum and users in the following ways
1. attract more dedicated cardists who mostly care about cardistry decks to the forum, and provide them a place to share their views
2. For guys who doesn't care about cardistry decks at all, they can simply focus on the non-cardistry section --- save time
3. It will be more user-friendly to cardists, since non-cardists won't waste time on commenting on the cardistry decks. The negative feedback from the non-cardistry guys won't help with the cardists group at all, and is wasting their own time
Thoughts?

Sooooo true. If I got a dollar for every time I read some "serious well informed collector with artisan taste" calling fontaines or A1 decks "lazy designed"... well, then Jeff Bezos would be in 2nd place on the wealthiest persons on the planet list.akicer wrote:... since non-cardists won't waste time on commenting on the cardistry decks. I mean I don't really care if somebody bashes on decks for no reason or just voices there opinion, but I can see that it may annoy some lurkers and then they won't really participate on the conversation here. I would prefer the way without a segregation, since I'm always a fan of being truely "unitedcardists", but I get all of your 3 arguments and would agree to them.

I dream of a world where wars are fought only by having dance offs. I also dream that a Finnish playing card designer would exist. The former seems more likely to happend.

But most of them are very lazy designs. Like, offensively lazy. Anyone: US flag, EU flag, checkerboards (multiple versions), Anyone Logos (oh but it's not a recolor because they flipped the textshiroo56 wrote:Sooooo true. Re: [Discussion]stand alone section for cardistry decks?
Funny that I always read that regarding A1or fontaine. I never read this about the Virtuoso decks (which is basicly a colour change of the same design aswell) - just a thought.hsbc wrote:But most of them are very lazy designs. Like, offensively lazy. Fontaine: It's an "f" getting recolored over and over. Sometimes with another company's logos too (Guess, RIPNDIP)
Don't get me wrong, I get the point, but in my opinion it is like complaining that a farm tractor isn't fast! For me collectors complaining about lazy design on cardistry decks, is like a punk rocker complaining everytime a new hip-hop album drops that this album sucks because there are no guitar riffs on it or that the music isn't "handcrafted and only produced on a PC"...
They have the aestehic they have, because the people releasing them like that, period. It is not the intention of these decks to be loved by collectors. It is their intention to pay the bills for the producing cardist(s), so that they can make a living from that and do what they love the whole day - cardistry, not deck design.
Regarding the price, which a lot of people are complaining about aswell; when you see your $10 decks flying of the shelf for $40+ on eBay, I guess nobody with a sane mind would still sell them for $10 then.
I guess this is why akicer asked if it is a good idea of a seperate section.
