The hands a a little high on the bow. In the case of the King of Clubs, the bow is upside down actually. I made a similar comment on the violin, which is held differently to the cello. Elbow placement and such is also important. But, anyway, I am not so sure it is all that huge a deal. I mean how many cigar chomping poker players know the proper positioning of a cello bow? ;)

Okay, regarding that video: I stand corrected. Very interesting and informative.

If you're going for the period, you may as well try to be authentic to the period.

Of course, those of us at UC who called this out won't be the only contemporary musicians who are unaware of the Baroque techniques. Alas.

From my understanding, baroque stringed instruments are fairly antiquated and their usage today is very very niche. I played violin for a while, and I was surprised to learn that my bow was actually longer than the cello bow, and many baroque bows are shorter still. Nevertheless, the scale of the bows are way too short in the pictures of the courts, and even with baroque technique, the hands aren't positioned that close to the middle of the bow. If you're going to be so accurate that you're staying true to the instruments used during the baroque era, be that accurate and true to the hand positioning. It is still way off, even for baroque cellos.

Actually the cellist in the card isn't holding a cello but a viola da gamba (judging from the shape of the holes on the belly and the color of the fretboard). And in that case the bow should be held in a completely different way. In Gamba playing the hand is under the bow:

Regardless of whether the bow is being gripped correctly (it isn't), I see two images in this thread where the musician is holding the instrument and bow in the WRONG HANDS. This will be noticed immediately by any musician or music fan and the artwork will lose any credibility with anyone who actually might support a Vivaldi-themed project. As others have stated, please research images and videos of professional musicians playing their instruments and make sure you have form and technique represented accurately.

Thanks.

Let me help out a little more since there are many misleading photos online (most of them are stock photos of people pretending to play an instrument but have no idea what they're doing). See the attached image...

It's a special edition that holds the cards of both Allegro and Vivaldi decks. There are no strech goals - for now.

its kinda funny from a musical prospective. Fontain has ƒ (forte) means to play loud, these have ƒƒ (fortissimo) whick means to play VERY loud. I would imply the meaning to be they are better than fontains.

Indeed!! A man of culture here!! I don't even assume Fontaine knows about this professional music expression (forte/fortessimo)

I remember trying to answer few days ago, but everytime I crashed the website by using the special characters. :D Anyway, it was not intended as a fight against Fontaines but... well.. yes, I do think they are better :D
