Pulled this listing together, originally just for my own reference as a relatively new collector, but it grew.
I’m often interested in finding decks by the same artist but, apart from the big names, it isn’t always obvious. The field is sometimes left blank in P52 or credit is given to the popular cardist/magician/producer behind the deck rather than the artist/designer themselves).
In some cases I had to hunt down their work on art-sharing platforms like Behance etc or trawl their instagrams to be sure.
This might be useful to newer collectors like myself as a quick reference. If anyone spots any notable omissions or errors, please let me know, I’d be delighted to correct or add. The focus is mainly on artists/designers with multiple decks.

This is a very thoughtful and useful database! It is often very hard to know who is behind the illustrations or artwork for a deck. Usually the producer is credited with all aspects of the project (as you said above) and the artist is kept in the dark. Thanks for sharing this

A pleasure! I appreciate the nice feedback. It took me quite a while but I learned some cool stuff and found some surprising linkages between decks along the way.BaconWise wrote: ↑Wed Jun 01, 2022 12:57 pm This is a very thoughtful and useful database! And thank you for making a point of highlighting the artists on your campaigns!

Re: A-Z of Playing Card Artists and Designers
That’s the plan but I am being rather cautious to avoid mis-crediting someone.
First step was to share this (here and on r/playingcards), hoping that people would point out any obvious errors or omissions while I continue to add and verify.
Second step was to add the names back into P52. It’s an amazing resource and should be the single source of truth.
One minor issue I have is that it isn’t super browsable and sometimes doesn’t return free text searched terms (like an artist’s name) very accurately for some reason.
Thinking about this, I actually emailed Alex Chin a little while ago suggesting (and volunteering) to create some Artist/Designer pages using the existing P52 structure.
Each would look like a regular user’s collection page but with only that artist’s decks added to it. I thought this might be easier to browse and it wouldn’t rely on the search function not finding things, not knowing pseudonyms for the same person (eg Blackout Brother, Mr Cup etc) or returning similar names (like the various Larsens).
Ideally these Artist collection pages might have a naming convention (or be marked/coloured slightly differently) to distinguish from User collections. Finding them might require a list of links somewhere.
The same sort of thing could potentially be done for Producers if someone wanted to take the time to do it (producer data is generally pretty accurate I think). The producers might even care to maintain it themselves as it would be in their interest to help people find their decks.
Anyway, Im not sure if this is a great suggestion (love to hear views on it).
That’s my extremely long-winded way of saying, yes, I will ensure that any missing or incorrect P52 data I find is updated one way or another.

Madison Kittens are definitely not by Madison. I forgot where it was but Daniel himself talked about the design/prototype laying around at Ellusionist but they had no clue if they wanted to put it out there. He liked the idea and style (kinda ugly sweater vibe) and said he is going to release them as Madison Kittens.

I’m continuing to add new entries and tidy up old ones. Let me know if you come across any suspected errors or if I’m missing an artist/designer of note.
