I am cringing looking at someone gripping a sword on the sharp side! That just scares the carp out of me. After that I can't get to the background color. Red is probably the correct color whether it is solid or spurting.

He’s not gripping the sword - a close look shows it to be the sheath - sword is pulled slightly out from it above his hand
