Black Roses 10 Year Anniversary Kickstarter
Hey all,
Wanted to bring some attention to the newest Black Roses Kickstarter coming out Feb 10th. Besides having awesome designs and custom faces the campaign is always packed with rewards for a great price. Black roses decks are already pretty affordable but some of the early bird deals can't be beat! If you haven't had a chance to pick up some of these decks they are perfect for magic as some have marked backs, but also feature a minimalistic back design which can be used for cardistry.
I have most Black Roses decks out there in my collection and I am constantly amazed by the effort and detail put into each deck.
If you all are interested be sure to sign up for the pre launch with this link : https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/da ... ref=6bznvx.

It always amazes me how different folks perceive reality.Superpickles97 wrote: βMon Jan 29, 2024 11:45 amI have most Black Roses decks out there in my collection and I am constantly amazed by the effort and detail put into each deck.
There was one deck from Black Roses that kinda peaked my interest (Innocence), the others just look boring to me.
You want to reclaim your mind and get it out of the hands of the cultural engineers who want to turn you into a half-baked moron consuming all this trash thatβs being manufactured out of the bones of a dying world.

My reaction is "nothing special" but I'm sure Daniel Schneider has a significantly loyal following if he's been able to come out with decks over the last 10 years. Good on him.

My favourite is Muffin which I just had to have as a dog lover and where the Innocence AoS came fromHarvonsgard wrote: βMon Jan 29, 2024 4:05 pm

I seem to be attracted to Black and White decks with fairly simple patterns etc I think it is the clean look they offer
Muffin cost me (!), unlike KS backers who got it for free, as the campaign was before I began collecting

Re: Black Roses 10 Year Anniversary Kickstarter
I can definitely understand the boring, a lot of his decks are recolors which isn't always super thrilling. The one thing that I appreciate is he is constantly retouching face cards to make them better or more unique. It makes it fun to try and find the differences and see how his idea of face cards change. Most decks have some tweak or adjustment so even a new release of an old or recolored deck will have some differences.Harvonsgard wrote: βMon Jan 29, 2024 4:05 pmIt always amazes me how different folks perceive reality.Superpickles97 wrote: βMon Jan 29, 2024 11:45 amI have most Black Roses decks out there in my collection and I am constantly amazed by the effort and detail put into each deck.

The decks will never compete with the likes of oath, S17, KWP but I do enjoy the decks. The amount of work he puts in and still keeps the decks fairly affordable is another point I appreciate. Also Dan is the Orbit designer so I enjoy seeing his work change between black roses and Orbit decks as well.

Re: Black Roses 10 Year Anniversary Kickstarter
Indeed, I enjoy his work although it may be on the less spectacular end of a lot of designers. I believe it's also important to consider he works directly with Orbit brown on his decks so a lot of his followers come from that end.

Re: Black Roses 10 Year Anniversary Kickstarter
Muffin was definitely a fun one. There is a white and black deck in the upcoming campaign called the phantom I believe. Similar to an old bicycle ghost deck I think where the edges kind of fade out. Might be worth checking out not 100% on the overall design and coloring!Honeybee wrote: βMon Jan 29, 2024 8:26 pmMy favourite is Muffin which I just had to have as a dog lover and where the Innocence AoS came fromHarvonsgard wrote: βMon Jan 29, 2024 4:05 pm

For context, I'm not only referring to this one post of his. Well, anyway.
