I hope the cards are better than the crap copy they use to promote them (AI?)Phobia Inspired Playing Card showing the twisted beauty of the fear that lurks in our heart

OK, I like the theme, and the tucks look nice. But.... first time creator, and my AI sense is tingling. We'll see.

The features look nice but I don't see anything indicating who the artist is and these days that is very important information to me. Unless explicitly stated, I have to assume new creator projects are AI. It might not be fair, but it's easy enough to demonstrate the human touch in a campaign.

Seems like Viral Ideas Playing Cards, which printed the SCP decks mentioned here: viewtopic.php?p=220162#p220162

Re: LURKING: Phobia by Morbid Curiosity
I backed a deck and asked in the comments. I don't see any tell-tale signs of it on the surface. Lots of symmetry and intent in the illustrations, so it's either not AI or really good AI. Either way, first time creator, and they just created their account last month. I'll watch this, but may withdraw before closing.BaconWise wrote: ↑Tue May 05, 2026 10:29 am The features look nice but I don't see anything indicating who the artist is and these days that is very important information to me. Re: LURKING: Phobia by Morbid Curiosity
I like the idea - not original (remember seeing something similar), but execution is enough to my liking. I'm just a bit antsy about new printers popping up now a days and it's been pushing me to go after what I'm familiar with personally. I also get nervous a bit around new accounts unless the design is killer. Anyone get a their hands on a VIPC deck before?
Hope everyone's doing well! It's been a while and I've just been LURKING around in the back

While I've never owned any of their decks, I know they handle fulfillment for a lot of smaller/first time creators in Asia. I can't speak to the handling of their cards, but they do have a track record of fulfillment. They even helped me resolve an issue with a first time creator that they were handling logistics for.jaytayo2212 wrote: ↑Thu May 07, 2026 6:53 am I like the idea - not original (remember seeing something similar), but execution is enough to my liking. That being said, on VIPC's latest campaign, there are a lot of concerning comments regarding orders:

If you end up backing, let us know how it goes.

Re: LURKING: Phobia by Morbid Curiosity
FYI, the artist claims in the comments that no AI was used in the design process. I’m inclined to believe them based on what I can see. Everything looks intentional and genuinely artistic. Still nervous about it being a first time campaign and account, but I guess we’ll see.
If everything is real I really do want this deck, so I’ll probably gamble on it.

I'm glad they responded and agree they should post that information on the page. While I disagree when they say "...the illustrations are clearly way beyond what AI can do..." it is nice they engaged with the campaign. It's definitely a unique concept and I am thinking I might give it a shot. I do like the holofoil application, but they are set on the trident tier being the only access. Going for the gold version and crossing my fingers the foil will look as good in person.mardem1976 wrote: ↑Fri May 08, 2026 6:56 am FYI, the artist claims in the comments that no AI was used in the design process. Re: LURKING: Phobia by Morbid Curiosity
I think they were slightly offended by the question in general. Unfortunately, that's the world we live in. And as generative AI engines get more and more refined, it'll get harder and harder to tell without a "NO AI" stamp. And even then.... <sigh>BaconWise wrote: ↑Fri May 08, 2026 11:14 amWhile I disagree when they say "...the illustrations are clearly way beyond what AI can do..." it is nice they engaged with the campaign.mardem1976 wrote: ↑Fri May 08, 2026 6:56 am FYI, the artist claims in the comments that no AI was used in the design process.
