I almost grabbed those when they came out - have some of the non gilded - price makes me think perhaps they were gilded with real hummingbird?

A bit surprised to see the vacuum tube deck at 60 as well - I have a pair and think the deck is just the bees knees, but that does not dull my surprise…

I have this set and it’s one of my favorites, but WHOAH!kenackers wrote: ↑Sat May 23, 2026 10:36 pmI'm surprised by this price for Dr Crow, but SHOCKED that this 3 set deck had 105 bids and reached $855 - Hummingbird Feathers Gilded Set (#108/225) [AUCTION]GandalfPC wrote: ↑Sat May 23, 2026 9:43 pm I find it discomforting that deck fetched that price.
Not so much that someone paid that, but that I checked, saw I had only one of them, and that was the end of that.
There was a time when I was still sane enough that I would have at least thought about selling…

This is where selling and bidding differs. And why we shouldn't treat auctions as real sell price values.CourtCurator wrote: ↑Sun May 24, 2026 5:30 pmI have this set and it’s one of my favorites, but WHOAH!If that’s what it will fetch, I’d sell in a heartbeat.
First, it obviously wouldn't "sell" at that same price.
And second, you wouldn't know when people will bid with the same determination on any listing. Maybe there were "joy bidders" involved. It's all coincidental and weird.

Re: Stockholm17 Patreon
The Dr. Crow price is nuts to me. I think its one of Lorenzo's worst decks...I don't get it. The Hummingbird gilded set are in my top decks in my collection - I would have paid $300 or so to own a second set but I was waiting until the end and before I had a chance to bid it was already $600+ ... crazy.Disenchanted_11 wrote: ↑Sun May 24, 2026 5:53 pmThis is where selling and bidding differs. Re: Stockholm17 Patreon
I bought one of the last sets remaining through Marvelous Decks a month into collecting back in April 2022 for $147 shipped. Crazy.
Dare I wonder what my prototype hummingbirds might cost now:

Unfortunately Kellar has stained his reputation. I'm out ~$400 on his last project...
I understand he's a magician so I guess his final trick was a disappearing act.

Yeah, I was really bummed about that one. I was honestly shocked that it went south.

Re: Stockholm17 Patreon
Another Hummingbird set up for auction but this is not a numbered and signed set
I wonder what this set will go for, after all how much can the signature of someone who did a $29k KS runner be worth?
I saw in an interview that Kellar worked mostly as a corporate entertainer for major companies in the US - I wonder whether he still does that?
Cabinet Of Collectibles withdrew a signed set from ebay on Friday which he had listed at a mere $148us (not quite SoCal's $855)

Re: Stockholm17 Patreon
A red one sold on Ebay Saturday for US $122.50.
I saw the Cabinet Of Collectibles one, I could be mistaken but am pretty sure it was just the one blue deck for that price, they always show the sets but sell as single decks.
Look like a set sold on 16th May for US $134.50 and on 5th March for $187.00. Talk about going outside the mean to get the decks you want, shaping the future pricing expectations. I dont mind bidding to a slight premium if I want something, but beyond that all I am doing is re-setting the price for myself if I lose.
