This is a nice idea. The Pink Ribbon Bicycle decks are one of the relatively few I don't regret buying looking back at my MUSTHAVEALLBIKES phase, although these miss something that the Bikes had - a percentage of sales going directly to the cause. I know that's probably not financially a good idea for a KS deck given all the extra fees and stuff, but even just a tiny share being "given forward" would be a nice sentiment IMO. And people love going things to feel good about themselves (it's as good a reason as any, really), so it'll probably boost sales a bit too.

Also a two-way back would be preferable, as always.

We have put together this project to raise awareness to the general public and to honor those affected by breast cancer.

Each time a card is flipped it will be an inspiration for players to think about the ongoing search for a cure.
They never state if they are actually donating any proceeds to any cancer funds. Sorry, but only way I'd even consider buying a deck like this is if some proceeds were donated, otherwise in my mind it comes off as a pathetic cash grab targeted at those affected by breast cancer.

Even the original Bicycle pink ribbon decks had a portion of their sale price donated.

We will be donating 20% to the National Breast Cancer Foundation. KS made us remove that part of our text from our campaign :(

One of the few times they enforce their "rules" is for this? Weird KS logic...

Awesome news, Alysha. Will definitely pledge with that in mind :) We need some more add-on info though, like if I want a certain combination of the different types of decks.

Since no one said it, I'll say it...

FUNDED!!!

I know it doesn't really matter since it's for a cause but who's printing these? I don't think that was mentioned.

I'd love to get one for my mom but too bad the pink ribbon only applies to a specific cancer.

It's mentioned at the very end: "These will be printed by special arrangement with Liberty Playing Card Co. on their casino linen stock." Which I believe are GW's in-house printing company, the same who printed the black Legacy decks.

Project Cancelled !!

Firstly we want to thank the backers for supporting this project/cause.

This deck was started with the best of intentions. To raise money for a cause and give back in our way by producing playing cards, not to make money for us. We were hoping the playing card community would own and promote this cause. It seems like not everyone thinks the same way.

We have decided to end this project. We will donate equivalent amount of total of pledges of $409 to the National Breast Cancer Foundation. If any backer would still like to get the custom decks contact us and we will produce and ship the decks at no charge.

We request you donate your pledge directly to the National Breast Cancer Foundation Bicycle Pink decks can be purchased on our website playingcards.net

Sincerely

Gambler's crew

Didn't wanna comment upon launch so as to not appear rude and sanctimonious, but since you're basically saying that it's our fault this project didn't explode in a heartwarming rainbow of donations, here's my reason:

I'm sure you had the best of intentions with this. But I couldn't in good conscience be a part of it. I see this as another form of slacktivism. Arguably less depressing than people liking a Facebook pic, thinking that's enough to feed the hungry and cure diseases. Such a miserable amount of our pledges would turn into a donation. "We made a difference! Take that, cancer! Two dollars off this ten dollar deck is sure to put a dent on this dastardly disease! And I have a pink deck to show for it!"

I feel the same way for bumper stickers, buttons, ribbons or any other silly trinket meant to stroke our egos and serve as a physical testament to show off that we care about something. "Tiny percent of the proceeds go to such and such", the rest goes to manufacturing and marketing. I much rather prefer my default donation method: going to their website and donating.

Many props for opting to donate the entire pledged amount rather than 20% of it.
